Groveview Park Playground
The Groveview Park playground install, located at 306 Springview Drive is about 70% complete with most components installed. The contractor is currently installing the curbing and prepping to install eight (8) tons of drainage gravel. This is in preparation for the rubberized safety surface install starting the week of July 22nd. The new playground will include a play and swing area for 2-5-year-olds and 5-12-year-olds, located between the two pavilions in the park. Stay tuned for the grand opening!

Our Fall Adult Softball League will be starting soon! Registration will be from July 29th through September 23rd, or until full. The team fee is $350, plus a $45 ASA fee. It is an 8-game season, starting the week of September 30th. Games are played at Pinehurst Park. July is Parks and Recreation Month and what better way to celebrate “Where You Belong” during the summer than with a cookout. Come out and enjoy our 28 park sites, 3 trails or our various recreational facilities to take a walk, enjoy a playground, catch a game, learn about history, take swim lessons, exercise or have a cookout with family and friends. Today Peter Parks is grilling up some summer fun!

The deadline for Sanford Historic Trust's 2025 calendar is July 15!
Thirteen photographs will be chosen for the 2025 calendar.
📸This year's theme: This is Sanford. Photographs of street scenes, storefronts, restaurants, waterfront, outdoor sports, homes, porches, holidays, and Sanford events will be considered.
Selected photographs will be framed by the Sanford Historic Trust and exhibited at the in November. Selected photographers will have the opportunity to sell the photos at the gallery during the exhibit.
Here are a few other things to keep in mind:
📸 Submission deadline is July 15, 2024.
📸 Each photographer may submit up to three black-and-white photos.
📸 Email entries to [email protected]
📸 Include the location/address and description for each photo.
📸 Horizontal images fit the calendar format better than vertical.
📸 Photos must be submitted electronically and be high resolution (at least 300 dpi on 8X10).
📸 Photographs must be submitted by the original photographer.
📸 Submitted images will remain the property of the photographers, but permission is granted to the Sanford Historic Trust to use them for the calendar and Trust promotional purposes.

Pearl, your water meter mascot, has great news...
Starting this week and continuing over the next 18 months, the city will be installing residential water meters. To ensure a smooth transition, a door hanger will be provided to you prior to your water meter installation. It's important to note that all meters in the city will be changed, so there's no need to worry if your meter is not changed right away. VEPO is the city's water meter replacement project installation contractor.

The goal of the Mayor’s Youth Council is to engage youth leaders of Sanford, to make recommendations to the City Commission on matters that affect this demographic and ultimately every citizen. The Council will pick projects/initiatives that support our community. There are also networking opportunities with our Youth Councils around the state of Florida.
Youth Council membership is comprised of 12 high school students. All high school students who reside in the City of Sanford may apply. If you live in the City of Sanford but attend high school in another city, you should still consider applying. Make a difference in your community, and be a voice for your generation.

The City of Sanford's City Commission shared a Proclamation recognizing "𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡" with representatives of that Department in attendance, at last night's City Commission meeting. 🌳🌸 This Department is an integral part of our community, establishing and maintaining a high quality of life in Sanford, and contributing to the economic and environmental health of our community as well as our residents by offering: sports and recreation programs, multiple youth day camps, field trips for all ages, mentoring programs, community classes, afterschool and summer programs, a variety of special events and community events, 28 Parks, 21 pavilions, 19 playgrounds, 13 public restrooms, 12 pickleball courts, 11 basketball courts, 6 tennis courts, 3 trails extending 6.5 miles, an aquatic center, a museum, a stadium with 9 fields, 3 rental facilities, a splash pad, 278 acres of green space for our enjoyment plus a 1.5 acre Paw Park for our 4-legged residents' health and wellness! Their efforts help the City of Sanford, the "𝐇𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐜 𝐖𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐭 𝐆𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐰𝐚𝐲 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲", maintain its designation as both a "𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐔𝐒𝐀" and a "𝐓𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐔𝐒𝐀".
