“A startling 26 percent of women in Orange County identify as victims of domestic violence. In 2017 alone, local law enforcement responded to 8,452 domestic violence calls — nearly one call every hour of every day.” 88 lots are up for debate at today’s city council meeting in Santa Ana. The city wants to privatize these lands for their own benefit and their own pockets. We are having a housing crisis in Santa Ana, and this crisis exacerbates domestic violence because many women do not have the financial means to leave their homes. Those that do leave end up homeless. A lot of the women affected by this gentrification are women of color and undocumented women. Let’s take the people’s land back from greedy hands. Housing justice is reproductive justice! 🏡 Hope y’all come out today!

Where is the #MeToo Movement for Undocumented Women? 10/11/2018

A large gasp was let out all throughout the United States by white women; a sigh and a shrug were let out by women of color. Tarana Burke’s movement has given women the platform to express their grievances about s*xual assault. We have seen the grievances of white women’s experiences expressed in a battle over the highest court of the land, blared throughout every television across the country. When will the grievances of undocumented women in detention, working in domestic jobs, or in transit, come to light with such enormous support and media presence?

Why Prisoners Are Going On Strike Today 08/21/2018

We say we want to abolish ICE, but an institute like ICE will always arise and exist if prisons exist. Abolishing ICE is like cutting off the hand of a vicious giant, that giant being the prison industrial complex.

“Let this nationwide strike be a wake up; Prisoners will destroy the crops,” read a statement about today’s strike that JLS released on August 10. “We will not comply. We will not allow you to exploit our families’ hard earned dollars anymore. Striking the match let it go up in a blaze. We are humans!”
