Much has evolved since the beginning of tango in the XIX century. What started as a marginal expression in the Rio de la Plata has expanded all over the world. Professionally trained dancers have taken the art form to a whole different level since the 1980s. There have been wars, economic crises and social changes, and yet, Argentine Tango has survived, adapted, and kept its essence.
We will facilitate a discussion about the current state of tango, the trends and innovations. We are interested in what is new in its music and the dance.
Fernando Bietti (βFerβ) is uniquely qualified to lead this discussion. He profoundly loves the art form, and has been at the vanguard of change. He is not afraid to explore new ideas and break new ground.
We will have Fran Borra of Tangorra and co-organizer of the Electrotango Festival will be there π΅
With simultaneous translation by Camila Lima π«
Nomad Tango goes to San Francisco! π«
π Friday, August 2 - Sunday, August 4
Santa Barbara's friend and distinguished tango ambassador, Winnie Cheung, along with Maestro Julian Peralta of Astillero Tango and other "tango de ruptura" projects, will be performing at The Dome in San Francisco on August 3rd. Julian Peralta is one of the most well-loved tango musicians of the moment, not only for his amazing trajectory but also because is one of the nicest people in tango, a great Human Being. Winnie comes fresh from worldwide tango appearances, including the Electrotango Festival in Buenos Aires. She is Human Dynamite, never tiring of taking tango to all corners of the world, exploring and pushing old and new ways.
π£ I want to know how many spaces to hold for Santa Barbara!
π₯ This event will be sold out in the next few days π₯
Winnie wants Santa Barbara there.
She can grab spots for us if we respond in the next few days π

π« The Barbara Electro Tango Band is a project led by RubΓ©n DarΓo Tedesco, a Buenos Aires native currently residing in Santa Barbara, California. Tedesco has been experimenting with fusions of tango and electronica for over two decades, having developed projects such as Buscando Red and Tango Ca**on. Supported by backing tracks that give the project its electronic character, with marked influences from rock, pop, and hip-hop. Featuring some original compositions as well as classic and modern tango pieces, for this occasion, he will be accompanied by Julieta Iglesias on piano.
