Many feel the urge to assist when they see a cat outside, especially one that appears to be hungry. However, most outdoor-indoor cats are simply enjoying their daily routine. They often roam during the day and return home in the evening.
Disrupting a catโs routine by taking them in could unintentionally separate them from their family. When well-meaning people mistake them for strays and bring them into shelters or homes, it reduces their chances of reuniting with their loved ones. In fact, only 2% of cats in shelters ever find their way home again.
Most free-roaming cats in your neighborhood have homes or caretakers and are not lost. Unless you know for certain that the cat has been abandoned, it likely lives in your community and doesnโt need to be rescued. Please donโt take a healthy adult cat to the shelter unless you know for certain it needs help.
Only step in if the cat is visibly sick or injured. Otherwise, remember that your neighborโs cat has a home, and their is waiting for them to return.
For more information about getting a cat spayed or neutered in your community, please visit our website or check the link in our bio.

Kitty Bruce is the cat's meow! He's a retired alley cat living with ASAP, looking for a new place to call home. He got picked on by other cats for being a bit of an oddball, but he's a total charmer. He had a nasty flea dermatitis, but he's on the mend, and his fur's growing back. Don't be put off by his funky coat - he loves pets, treats, and going on adventures. Come adopt him today and get a free side of snuggles!

๐พ A Huge Thank You to Gina, Zeus, and Our Amazing Community Cats Team! ๐พ
Last night, Gina, our incredible Community Cats Coordinator, led a fantastic training session on humane trapping and TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) techniques, and weโre so grateful to everyone who attended! ๐๐ฑ
Of course, we couldnโt have done it without Zeus, our resident feline supervisor, who was out in the outdoor runs making sure Gina was on point! ๐ธ๐พ
Thanks to Ginaโs expertise, Zeusโs watchful eye, and the dedication of our community members, weโre taking the initiative to care for our feline friends and manage community cat populations. We have three lovely kitties who yearn for a more fulfilling life of chasing mice and roaming free. These kitties are categorized as NOC, or "No Other Cats" because they do not get along well with other cats -- but what they lack in friendliness to felines they make up for in hunting finesse!
Jack Skellington: A semi-social, lively 1-year-old boy with great mousing potential. Jack is a handsome brown tabby who enjoys some human interaction, and he loves to run around in fresh air. He's proven his skill at capturing toys, so he's ready to hunt for real!
Hermione: Hermione loves her space and her independence, and when she's not gobbling down her dinner she's roaming around free! She'll need a cat-savvy adopter who can pick up on her cues and give her space, and she'll reward you with a critter-free home!
Estrella: A 3-year-old tortoiseshell with beautiful markings, Estrella has been making great progress with our behavior team! She too values her space and independence, but she does enjoy being in the company of humans. Just be sure to only give her pets when she requests them, and plenty of treats!

Did you know that just one unaltered cat can lead to over 11,000 kittens in 5 years?! ๐
Here's why spaying or neutering your cat is so important:
๐ Reduces Overpopulation: Prevents unwanted births which helps to decrease the number of homeless pets in shelters.
๐ Health Benefits: Lowers the risk of reproductive organ and mammary cancer, ensuring your cat leads a longer, healthier life.
๐ Behavioral Benefits: Neutering reduces roaming, urine spraying, and fights in male cats. Spaying eliminates the howling of female cats in heat.
๐ Community Impact: Helps manage free-roaming community cats, reducing overpopulation and the strain on shelters.
Healthy cats as young as 8 weeks old can be safely spayed or neutered. Take action today to ensure a healthier future for your furry friend and countless others!
Molly is here to remind you that the Fourth of July is coming up and it can be stressful for your furry friends. More pets get separated from their homes and owners on the Fourth of July than on any other day of the year! Here are some tips to ensure your cat stays safe and calm:
๐ Microchip: Ensure your cat is microchipped. Microchips greatly enhance the likelihood of reuniting lost pets with their families. Microchips offer a permanent form of identification, ensuring your pet's safety, but be sure to check that the chip is registered with your current contact information. If your cat is not microchipped, our partners over at are offering free microchipping NOW through July 4th!
๐ Safe Room: During parties and fireworks, place your cat in a secure, escape-proof room. Make the space cozy with their bed, scratching post, and favorite toys. Close windows and doors to reduce noise and prevent escape. If you're hosting, let your guests know not to let your cat out. Posting notes on exit doors can help everyone stay alert.
๐ Hazard-Free Zone: Keep sparklers, glow sticks, fireworks, charcoal, kabob skewers, and alcoholic drinks out of your cat's reach.
๐ Vet Consultation: If your cat is frightened by loud noises, consult your vet about possible medications or supplements.
๐ ThunderShirt: These provide gentle, calming pressure around your pet's torso, similar to swaddling a baby, which can help soothe anxiety.
๐ Sound Machine: Use a sound machine, play soothing music, or turn on the TV to mask the noise from fireworks.
