So proud of Academy of the Canyons Middle College High School! #36 in California for state testing in reading, math and science!
Six comprehensive high schools in the Hart District have been ranked among the top public high schools in the country by U.S. News & World Report!
Academy of the Canyons was ranked #36 in the state on math, reading and science proficiency. Being a middle college high school, AOC does not offer AP classes (which counts against them on the ranking system). As a newer school, sufficient data was not available to accurately represent Castaic High School.
“We are pleased to announce that the William S. Hart Union High School District once again has multiple schools being recognized by U.S. News & World Report for their exceptional academic performance. This prestigious honor reflects the hard work of our dedicated staff who continue to prepare students for future success,” said Superintendent Mike Kuhlman.

Congrats to our Seniors in the "Hermit Social Club", a Community Robotics Team! I wanted to share some good news with you and the rest of the school. The FIRST Robotics team, Hermit Social Club, which consists of all seniors; Hallea Pocrass (ASB), Varun Ramanan (ASB), Purvi Patil (ASB), Cole Schutte, Aditya Jain, Nyali Latz-Torres, Sidharth Nair (ASB) and Sachiv Sekaran from VHS, made it all the way to championships again this year.
Our region now has over 180 teams competing for coveted spots at the champions level. This team persevered through SAT's, college apps, school projects, and working many long hours through the night to achieve great success this season.
I am so proud of these students for all their hard work and accomplishments this season. They won multiple matches and: Inspire, Think, Connect, Promote (ask Varun about his winning Promote video) and Compass Awards. I had to share.
Awesome job kids!!!

Please help me congratulate our AOC Teacher of the Year for the 2024-2025 school year, Mrs. Rubay. Here are just a few of the compliments shared by her colleagues:
Mrs. Rubay is passionate about history! She loves teaching, and she loves her students. She is a team player, always open to new ideas and making curriculum work so students have the best learning experience possible. Her efforts with the tutoring program have directly and indirectly supported all of our students on campus. Her program helps students feel more confident and comforted knowing that there are trained peers ready to help them reach their academic potential. Additionally, Mrs. Rubay is an expert in building relationships, creating relevant assignments, and meeting students’ social and emotional skills.
Congratulations, Mrs. Rubay! We are so proud of you!

SCV Runners is hosting their 2023 Jingle Bell Jog this Thursday, 12/14 and will begin in the parking lot of Wolf Creek Restaurant at 6:00 PM. “Families are welcome, and feel free to wear some festive gear! We will have a 4.5-mile course available, highlighting the best holiday lights in Valencia. You can cut the run short to make it a 3-miler as well. Afterward, the patio is reserved for us at Wolf Creek for dinner and cheer at 7:00.”
This year, the charity is in honor of our beloved Academy of the Canyons’ 12th grade student, Louie Barba. His parents are part of the SCV Runners Club and shared this information with our community. A scholarship fund has been set up in his name for an AOC Senior. More details on how to contribute will be sent in the next few days.
*The run is organized by SCV Runners and is not affiliated with the WSHUHSD. All runners and minors should be accompanied by an adult and supervised for safety reasons. For questions about the run, please contact [email protected]
