About Lori Schulman:

Lyric-coloratura soprano Lori Schulman, originally from Washington, D.C., has been engaging audiences in Santa Cruz and its surrounding areas for many years. She has been seen with companies such as San Jose Playhouse, Cabrillo Stage, Actor’s Theater, Ensemble Monterey Chamber Orchestra, Santa Cruz Chamber Players, Berkeley’s West Edge Opera, and Santa Cruz Opera Project. Some favorite roles include Cunegonde in Candide, Andrea/ Archangel Michael in Jerry Springer - The Opera, Musetta in La Bohème, Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro, Mabel in The Pirates of Penzance, Kathy in Company, Laurey in Oklahoma, Cosette in Les Misèrables, Papagena and Pamina in Die Zauberflöte, and Ilia in Idomeneo. Lori is also a frequent concert soloist and recitalist, with performances including David Del Tredici’s Dracula, Joseph Schwantner’s Sparrows, Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass, Handel’s Laudate Pueri Dominum, and Wolf’s Italienisches Liederbuch, among others.
Lori lives with her two children, age 6 and 9, and has been teaching private voice lessons for more than 15 years.

About Omar Rodriguez:

With his flexible voice and multi-genre versatility, Omar Alejandro has gained acclaim in both opera and the world of mariachi. He performs regularly with Opera Santa Barbara, Lamplighters Music Theater, and Pacific Opera Project, having sung the roles of Sergeant Gomez in Zorro, Sir Despard in Ruddygore, The Major General and the Pirate King in Pirates of Penzance, El Dancairo in Carmen, Giuseppe in The Light in the Piazza, and The Marquis in La Traviata.
As a viral mariachi singer/content creator, Omar has performed in mariachi festivals throughout the United States and México. His mariachi EP “Te Esperaría” is available for streaming. He has sung backup vocals for Andrea Bocelli on multiple occasions, recorded with John Williams and Sony Classical, and has toured Italy, Spain, German, Austria, Slovenia, and Croatia. Omar holds a Masters Degree in Vocal Performance from Boston University, and speaks English, Spanish, and German.

About Kaya:

Kaya, a Santa Cruz Native has sung as a soloist with Cabrillo College Symphonic Choir for their performances of Mendelsohn’s Elijah and Handel’s Messiah, as well performed at the Santa Cruz Juneteenth Festival for several summers. Currently in her last semester at San Jose State she is starring in the opera The Anonymous Lover, by Joseph Bologne Chevalier de Saint-George. She has also starred in SJSU productions of Into the Woods, singing the role of Rapunzel, and singing excerpts from West Side Story as Maria for their Symphonic Dances Concert. Kaya made her international debut last summer performing throughout Northern Italy in concert and opera scenes. She returns to Italy this July to perform in concert. Kaya is very excited to make her debut as an Ambianceur and cover for Adele in Strauss’ Die Fledermaus, with the Santa Cruz Opera Project, her hometown company!

About Alex Delgado:

Raised in Corona, California, mezzo soprano Alex Delgado discovered their passion for music at a young age singing in their middle school choir. In 2018, Alex decided to pursue a BM in Vocal Performance at SJSU where they performed notable roles such as Cinderella (Into The Woods), Dionisia (La Curandera), and Lucy Brown (Threepenny Opera). Additionally, Alex appeared as a backup vocalist for Josh Groban in 2019 and 2022, and as a chorister for Andrea Bocelli in 2022. In 2023, Alex made their European debut in the role of Hansel (Hansel and Gretel) with the Narnia Festival in Narni, Italy. While engaged with the Narnia Festival, Alex premiered a piece by new composer, Gail Harris, “Happily Ever After Takes a Lot of Work”. Most recently, Alex returned to SJSU Opera Theater to assistant direct their production of L’Amant Anonyme.
Outside of performing, Alex enjoys cooking, playing Stardew Valley, and spending time with their two pet rats, Ezra and Soup!

Die Fledermaus is a comedic operetta composed by Johann Strauss II. The story revolves around a wealthy man, Gabriel von Eisenstein, who is meant to go to jail for a short period but decides to attend a lavish party hosted by the lavish Prince Orlafsky instead. Meanwhile, his wife, Rosalinde, attends the same party in disguise to catch him in the act of infidelity. Chaos ensues as mistaken identities, flirtations, and humorous misunderstandings unfold throughout the night, all leading to a delightful and festive conclusion.
