Meet our newest member of the Los Angeles team, Deshka Ramirez! Deshka Ramirez is an ASHA-certified speech and language pathologist (SLP) licensed through the California Speech Pathology and Audiology Board and the Oregon Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology. Deshka specializes in assessing and treating language, cognitive/communication, and swallowing disorders related to acquired neurological impairment in adults. With experience in multidisciplinary clinics, hospitals, and nursing facilities, including acute and outpatient rehabilitation, Deshka leverages her extensive clinical knowledge to work with clients presenting with a range of conditions. The Integrated Clinic now provides FAA Neuropsychological Evaluations! These comprehensive assessments play a crucial role in determining an individual's cognitive and psychological fitness for aviation-related duties, serving as a vital safety standard within the aviation industry.

"Summertime slide” is known as the annual dip in academic skills that commonly occurs during summer break. As children engage less in educational activities and lose intellectual stimulation over the summer, their knowledge and abilities can regress. Combatting this slide is crucial to maintain and build upon the gains made during the school year. At The Integrated Clinic, we offer various services and an extensive educational therapy team that can combat “summertime slide” and promote continuity of learning throughout the year.

Donia Torabian is an educational specialist with 15 years of experience in private, public, charter, gifted magnet, and international classrooms. She uses Universal Design for Learning to create inclusive lessons that specialize in supporting students with various learning challenges, including those with dyslexia, ADHD, depression, and much more. Donia holds a Master's of Education degree and multiple subject teaching credential from the UCLA Teacher Education Program. Additionally, she is trained in teaching Writers' Workshop and Cognitively Guided Instruction in Math and is currently an Adjunct Professor at California State University Northridge. Along with her teaching certifications, Donia is a Yoga and Mindfulness Teacher. Donia takes a more holistic approach to learning that emphasizes self-care and emotional regulation. Meet Dr. Marc Heiser, a board-certified psychiatrist with expertise in treating depression, anxiety, eating disorders, PTSD, substance use disorders, ADHD, and autism. He also specializes in mindfulness-based stress reduction, cognitive behavioral therapy, and gender identity exploration. In addition to clinical treatment, Dr. Heiser has extensive experience in neuroscience research- including electrophysiology and fMRI- and has been published in prestigious scientific journals. He received his BA from UC Berkeley, earned a PhD in neuroscience and an MD from UC San Francisco, and completed residency and fellowship at UCLA. He currently teaches at UCLA and Charles Drew University School of Medicine.

Congratulations to Dr. Taylor Kuhn for achieving Clinical Neuropsychologist of the Year (USA) from Global Health & Pharma’s Mental Health Awards 2022!
After receiving his Doctoral Degree in Psychology from the University of Florida, Dr. Kuhn completed his internship at the Boston Consortium for Clinical Psychology and fellowships at Harvard and Boston University. Currently, he is an Assistant Research Neuroscientist in UCLA’s Department of Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences. His growing record of accomplished research focuses on bridging the gap between neuropsychology and neuroimaging in order to investigate relationships between brain structure and function across neurodegenerative disorders, neuromedical illnesses, healthy aging, and intellectual giftedness. More recently, his research has expanded to include neuromodulation techniques, such as focused ultrasound, as a non-invasive method for improving cognitive performance and emotion regulation.

Meet our new neuropsychologist, Jessica Groberio! Dr. Groberio is a licensed clinical psychologist at The Integrated Clinic who provides neuropsychological assessment to adults with neurologic and psychiatric diseases. During her residency, she worked at both the VA medical center and at UCSF in the Memory and Aging Center and the adult Epilepsy Center. At The Integrated Clinic, she treats individuals with conditions such as ADHD, traumatic brain injury, anxiety, and epilepsy.

Meet our new developmental psychologist, Matthew Ruderman! Dr. Ruderman is a licensed psychologist at The Integrated Clinic who provides neuropsychological assessment and care coordination to children and teens. He additionally serves as the Research and Program Development Manager at UCLA TIES (training, intervention, education, and services) for Families. His primary areas of expertise include early childhood trauma, bullying and victimization, and adoption-specific populations.

Meet our first San Francisco teammate, Dr. Paul Mangal! He is a licensed clinical psychologist at The Integrated Clinic with expertise in brain health and wellness. Dr. Mangal strives to understand how cognitive, behavioral, and psychological factors affect an individual’s day-to-day functioning. Throughout his career, Dr. Mangal has worked with LGBT individuals, college students and young adults, working professionals, veterans, older adults, individuals with diverse and multicultural backgrounds, individuals with complex medical conditions, and many other populations.

Meet Dr. Nick Brown, our newest teammate from Los Angeles! Dr. Brown is a licensed clinical psychologist who specializes in psychotherapy. He has spent the past several years working on an outpatient basis with veterans suffering from a range of psychological and medical conditions. He is thorough and collaborative in his approach, using mindfulness- and compassion-based interventions, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), and more!
