Hello! My name is Patricia (Paty) Barsallo, and I have been a member of The Chamber Toastmasters since March 2019. I joined Toastmasters to be a better leader and improve my listening skills.
For the last 7 years, I have been working with Turner Construction as an estimator. Also, I have worked with other leaders in the construction industry like Skansa, Parsons, Barton Malow, and Hardin Construction.
On my free time, I enjoy cooking delicious and healthy family meals with my husband and watching movies with my daughter Gaby. In addition, I love clear water beaches for vacation time.
Fun fact about myself is that as a Student Assistant, I had the opportunity to cross the Panama Canal twice. I'll never forget it!
The club recently returned our lectern to the past district director, Linda Oliver, the widow of the creator of our beloved lectern. Behind is his workshop in Canyon Lake.

WOW! We had a fantastic Open House this evening! We had several guests, including the Mayor of Schertz, Michael Carpenter; the President of the Schertz Chamber of Commerce, Maggie Titterington; and our incoming Area Director, Jim Lowery -- we even had a few fellow Toastmasters from local clubs visit in support of our Open House! And did I mention food? What a spread! Thanks to our Open House Committee Chair, Erick Portilla, and his crackerjack team, this event was a BIG success! Many thanks to Mayor Carpenter for his inspiring talk about the risks and sacrifices our founding fathers faced by signing the Declaration of Independence, and the importance of properly celebrating Independence Day.
Deb Arrington, Doug Kelly and I had a fabulous time at the officers' training in Austin! Lots of energy, lots of ideas -- we're ready for action and our Club Open House event on June 29th!! Can't wait to see new faces there!!

Our "May the Fourth Be With You" event was wonderful! Program Chair Tricia Killian did a wonderful job creating the tongue-in-cheek ambiance, and Deb Arrington did a FANTASTIC job of covering everything from New Member Orientation to Evaluate to Motivate to Contest Judging to Ballot Counting -- phew!! So much energy and enthusiasm from everyone there! Part of the Contest Judging workshop was explaining the judging form and process, then watching (and judging!) the top 3 Humorous Speeches from the District 55 Fall Conference, then going through the ballot counting process. Wow! Thank you to Tricia and Deb for their outstanding "May the Fourth Be With You" program!!!
Great meeting last night!! New Toastmaster Pat Goolsby gave her Icebreaker speech and her mentor, Becki Jackson, presented her with a Toastmaster member pin. We hosted the I-43 Area Governor, Bill Friedrich, and Blake Ruby, the I-43 International Speech and Evaluation contest contestant. The club also welcomed new Toastmaster Michelle Henson. Our Best Speaker for the evening was Tricia Killian, our Best Evaluator was Erick Portilla, and our Best Table Topic Respondent was Kyle Walker! We also welcomed back Elaine Washington!!
