Scituate Community Christmas

Inspired by our core values of kindness, compassion, philanthropy, and volunteerism

Inspired by our core values of kindness, compassion, philanthropy, and volunteerism, we honor the legacy of our founder Susan Phippen by supporting families and individuals during times of hardship, spreading joy to those who need it most, and recognizing those dedicated to serving our community.

Scituate Community Christmas is continuing to ask for specific coveted gifts each month in preparation for the Big Give. ๐Ÿ’š This month, we are asking our generous community to consider a gift of GoodR Sunglasses! These can be purchased on the GoodR website (www.goodr.com) OR if people choose to shop local, at The Shoe Market at Derby Street.

These sunglasses are gender neutral, one size, a great price point, and they come in lots of fun colors and styles, making them a nice surprise for people of all ages to open Christmas morning.

If such a purchase isnโ€™t possible but youโ€™d still like to give, we also have Wish Lists at Target and Amazon. Visit our website to learn more: https://scituatecommunitychristmas.org/big-give

As always, THANK YOU to all who continue to make the Big Give possible year after year!

As the summer unofficially gets underway, the SANDS team would like to remind everyone in our seaside community to be aware of weather and water conditions when visiting the beach:

๐Ÿ’š If you hear thunder or see lightning, get yourself and children out of the water until it passes.
๐Ÿ’š Be aware of strong currents and rip tides.
๐Ÿ’š If possible, swim with a buddy. If you do have to swim alone, make sure someone knows where you are.
๐Ÿ’š Don't jump off rocks, bridges or boardwalks. Remember that tides change, currents shift, and rocks can be hidden under water.
๐Ÿ’š Wear sunscreen, even on cloudy days.
๐Ÿ’š When temperatures rise outside, stay aware of your body and your abilities. Stay hydrated and bring lots of water to any outdoor activities.

Stay safe and have fun this summer!

Through our Acts of Kindness program, we recently launched our Springtime and Sunshine initiative to spread cheer to neighbors deserving of recognition and a pick-me-up. ๐Ÿ’š

SCCโ€™s hard working volunteers - including Scituate High School National Honor Society students - delivered handwritten notes and Dash and Albert machine washable door mats to nearly 250 residents. โœจ

Thank you to our Program Chair Alison Sheerin and Volunteer Chair Kelly Butterworth for spearheading this joyful initiative!

This year, Scituate Community Christmas is asking for specific coveted gifts each month in preparation for the Big Give. This month, we are asking our generous community to consider a sports-related gift. Sports balls were widely requested by many of the children we served last year. ๐Ÿ’š
