What an incredible day at Appaloosa Library as we hosted two special guests - meet Cash and Koda, the magnificent horses from the SPD Mounted Unit!
Our young patrons had a unique opportunity to learn all about the important role these four-legged officers play in keeping our community safe.
A huge shoutout to the Scottsdale Police Department for bringing a touch of magic to our library and making learning about community helpers an unforgettable adventure.

We love visiting 2nd grade classrooms to tell the students about all the cool things they can do with a public library card!
Did you know that any 2nd grader that visits a Scottsdale Public Library branch can get a free backpack when they sign up for a library card? It's part of our 2nd Grade Card Campaign, where we aim to get every 2nd grader in Scottsdale signed up for a library card so that they can get into good reading habits early.
All Scottsdale Public Library branches, including Pony Express at Appaloosa, will be closed Friday, Nov. 10 and Saturday, Nov. 11 in observance of the Veterans Day holiday.

This display for Dia de Los Mu***os can be found at Arabian Library. The large calaca (decorative skull) is made from 100 Rubik's Cubes and was assembled by the Arabian Cube Club. YOU are invited to color a sugar skull to add to the display and check out any of the books or videos to learn more!
๐ผ - The marigold flower (Cempasรบchil) is a traditional flower used to honor the deceased during Dia de los Mu***os.
๐ - The calacas, or decorative skulls, are commonly associated with the holiday.
๐ฏ๏ธ - Candles are often used to light the way for the spirits of the departed.
๐ฌ - Sugar skulls and other sweets are commonly offered as ofrendas (offerings) during the celebration.
๐งก - The color orange is often associated with Dia de los Mu***os, and this heart represents the love for those who have passed.
๐ถ - Music and dancing are integral parts of the celebration!
