METHOD is a non profit gallery specializing in installation based art. METHOD Gallery is fiscally sponsored by Shunpike.
The mission of METHOD is to foster and exhibit sculpture and installation that regards process, material, and concept, while engaging the gallery space. Shunpike is the 501(c)(3) non-profit agency that provides independent arts groups in Washington State with services, resources and opportunities they need to forget their paths to sustainable success.

“For the Camouflage Net Project installation at METHOD, exhibiting artist Tara Tamaribuchi has invited choreographer Gabrielle Nomura Gainor to create a performance within the installation. Correction! Today’s artist talk between Tara Tamaribuchi and Gabrielle Nomura Gainor will start at 1pm, in the gallery and streamed live on instagram. They’ll discuss Tara’s work, Camouflage Net Project, currently on view at METHOD, and the dance piece Gabrielle has choreographed in response to the installation. Join us!

Another exciting weekend at METHOD! Join us on Saturday afternoon for Tara Tamaribuchi’s artist talk. She’ll be in conversation with Gabrielle Kazuko Nomura Gainor who has choreographed a dance piece called Tsuru Ko in response to Camouflage Net Project. Performances will be 11/17 and 11/18 at METHOD, and tickets will be available after the artist talk. Their discussion is sure to be great, tune in!

Installing this week at METHOD is Tara Tamaribuchi’s Camouflage Net Project. This work explores Tara’s heritage as a Japanese American, particularly as it relates to Japanese American internment during WWII.
The show opens 10/21, with an artist talk on 11/4, and dance performances in collaboration with Gabrielle Kazuko Nomira Gainor the weekend of 11/17. Lots of exciting opportunities to experience this work, we hope you’ll join us!

Today at 1pm, join us as Laura Luna Castillo discusses her current work at METHOD, “To be angry with images for not being real, to be angry with small things forgotten”. We’ll discuss the themes of the work, as well as her background and process. This show is part of SPAM New Media Festival, happening across Seattle this month.
Later this month, METHOD is thrilled to join Refract with a group glass show titled Perceptual, featuring six local artists. Join us for an opening reception on Oct 12, or for open gallery hours on Oct 14. Stay tuned for details!

Join us for our Artist Talk this Thursday! Nancy Edelstein and Ellen Gardens will discuss Nancy’s installation at METHOD, The Shape of Light.
Nancy Edelstein’s artistic interests have always been centered around light and space. Trained as a fine art photographer, her attention has been on observing the subtle properties of multiple light sources co-existing within various interior locations.
Ellen is a former Professor of Art at the University of Washington. She has received a Fulbright–Hayes Scholarship, National Endowment for the Arts Individual Fellowship Grant, and an Artist Trust /Washington State Fellowship. Garvens’ work is in the public collection of University of New Mexico Fine Arts Museum, Tacoma Art Museum, Henry Art Gallery, The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, Allen Memorial Art Museum, and Yale University Art Gallery, among others. Her work has consistently merged photography, drawing and sculpture in a variety of ways.
