Exciting news from the Blanca team💡The EWU Pence Union Building received one of the three top World Architecture News WAN Awards 2022 (Bronze Award) in the “Education and Research Facilities” built category. EWU PUB is one of two Educational built projects in the United States to be honored this year in the top 3 global awards. This is the 6th design award for EWU PUB since completion. Congratulations to the EWU PUB Team! Amazing team and project!

Seymour Conservatory in all its glory💡
The interior of the conservatory shines and the lighting creates a renewed visitor experience with several layotus of light including wayfinding. The plants are so unique and look health and happy. Go visit this wonderful space with your family.

Center for Spiritual Living💡
Last week, we spent some time aiming and adjusting fixtures with the team. This wonderful space is almost ready. New branding, new lights. Many possibilities. The lighting will provide different settings and full control for the many events that take place in this sanctuary. Only a few final touches are needed to have it complete! stay tuned for pictures of the final product!

Laboratories. Where we light the work💡
Laboraroty lighting is highly technical. The lighting system has to achieve a high light level at the work benches, while making sure that the distribution of light is even, the color rending is high, the color temperature is appropriate, the glare is low, the controls provide flexibility, the fixtures are easy to maintain and easy to clean…and while meeting stringent local energy codes. We always welcome a good laboratory challenge!

While lobbies are cool, we spend most of our time inside in places where we meet, work and learn. These spaces require us to design systems for practical uses, meeting light level recommendations and providing flexibility to the user.

The roof top is a great outdoors gathering area well loved by all visitors. Lighting fixtures guide the way and create a welcoming atmosphere.

SCUP/AIA-CAE Excellence In Architecture award 💡
“The original architecture was based on trends from prevailing student union models of its time, with cast concrete and brick walls, small windows, and discrete, private areas to accommodate small groups of students. The design concept behind the renovation focuses on improving the “seam” between the two eras—knitting together the old and the new.
Portions of the former building were preserved and a new connection was created. The redesign creates an easy-to- navigate, open-concept layout that is infused with natural light.”

A timelessly modern learning environment, WWU ISB is comprised of 10 teaching laboratories and three active learning classrooms to foster cross-discipline collaboration across a variety of soft spaces, including student support labs, breakout areas and study nooks, and expansive glass that allows for direct visibility into teaching laboratories.

Kingsgate Library is located in my own neighborhood and it holds a special place in my heart since for years i used to to take my son to it. Being part of the renovation of this wonderful branch library was an honor.
