North Beach Elementary PTA
North Beach Seals are safe, kind, and respectful!
The North Beach PTA’s mission is to foster community inclusion, child advocacy, and academic excellence by facilitating communications, supporting teachers and staff, and enhancing the educational, social, and physical environment of North Beach Elementary School. We live this mission every day through membership, volunteering in and out of the classroom, fundraising and advocating for our students, and engaging families, students, and our community throughout the year.
Please join us TONIGHT at 6:30pm for a PTA Community Meeting to discuss SPS's newly released school consolidation/closure plans which includes closing North Beach and having our school "consolidate with Viewlands Elementary" for the 25-26 school year.
During the meeting, the PTA will share the latest plans with our families and discuss what next steps are for our North Beach Community. And then a SPS District representative will join the call at 7:00pm to answer our questions. Please submit any questions or concerns you have before the call to this form so we can consolidate a list to share with the district rep.
(Zoom meeting link on Konstella)
Please make sure your calendars are marked for our PTA Zoom Meeting tomorrow night (10/30 at 6:30pm.) We will spend the first 30 minutes (6:30pm-7pm) discussing next steps with just our North Beach community and then a district representative will join to take questions at 7pm. Let's fill up their screen with our NB community. (Zoom link on Konstella)
We are also compiling a list of questions before the meeting; you will find the form to submit yours on Konstella Please add your questions and concerns to this form to have your voice heard by both the PTA and the district reps.

The NBPTA Recommends vote NO on Initiate 2109
At the October PTA meeting, the general membership voted to endorse a NO vote on Initiative 2109, the repeal of the Capital Gains Tax.
What - This initiative would repeal the 7% capital gains excise tax imposed on sales and exchanges of long-term capital assets by individuals with capital gains over $250,000. Examples of sales that would be subject to the tax include stocks, bonds, business interests, or other investments and tangible assets.
Why - The North Beach Elementary PTA recommends a NO vote on the proposed repeal of Washington's capital gains tax (Initiative 2109). The current capital gains tax directly supports our public schools and funds crucial educational programs across the state. The first $500 million collected from the capital gains tax is allocated to fund K-12 education, ensuring smaller class sizes, teacher support, and critical resources for our students.
Repealing this tax would make the already dire funding situation for public schools much worse. Without this vital revenue, schools across Washington will face deeper budget cuts, potentially leading to increased class sizes, reduced staffing, and fewer educational opportunities for our children. With Seattle Public Schools and other districts facing major deficits, this funding is essential to prevent further strain on our education system.
Voting NO is a vote to protect the future of our schools and our children’s education. Please help ensure that our public schools receive the support they need to provide every student with a quality education.
