"Anna Sparks is a mixed media artist, designer, photographer, and self-described 'arranger of things’. After relocating from Seattle to NYC where she lived from 2016-2019, she moved back to the Pacific Northwest to recover from a sudden brain cancer diagnosis. She combines her love for traveling and visual storytelling with her desire to spread a message and document the changing environment through art.
“La Vie en Rose” is a nod to her love for French culture and her passion for music. The mixed media pieces in this show depict seeing life through rose-colored glasses, or the experience of finding joy and staying positive despite life’s ups and downs.
Anna Sparks was born in Seattle, WA, and is currently working remotely in West Seattle and focusing on her yoga practice, art making, and love for music."

"The Little Merle is devoted to creating one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces from recycled and reimagined materials. Everything I create is made from discarded, unwanted or broken parts and pieces. The hunt for the materials, the cleaning and organizing and then the custom creation of the pieces is a therapeutic passion for me. "

Glenda Weibel
[email protected]
Glenda is a watercolor artist who has lived in West Seattle for over 20 years. She comes from a family of artists and crafts people and has always enjoyed some form of artistic expression. She and her husband share their home with their Miniature Pinscher Dog who is “ten pounds of terror.”
Asked why watercolor is her choice of medium, Glenda states that, “I love the immediacy and surprise of watercolor. You begin with an idea and design and in the ex*****on the medium will add its own contribution and exclamation points. To me, it becomes a three-way conversation between the subject, the medium and myself. Every painting is a new adventure.”
In addition to using watercolor on traditional rag paper, Glenda has also been exploring ways to free watercolor paintings from being framed behind glass. To accomplish this, she paints on archival tissue paper, mounts it on canvas and then finishes it with varnish. This technique maintains the freshness of watercolor, but eliminates the need for glass.

My name is Pete, and I operate a 307' fishing boat. I spend most of the year in the Bering Sea. While fishing, the M/V Golden Alaska employs about 150 crew members. We produce up to 190 tons of product per day, with one of the lowest carbon footprints of any protein food product.
I care deeply about conservation, and I am proud to be part of a well-regulated fishery. It is very important for us to operate in a sustainable way since our livelihood for years to come depends on the actions we take and the ways we operate now.
I have a fascination with the beautiful structures in nature. I started my art journey by assembling articulated fish skeletons using only sea life that had died as an incidental bycatch of commercial fishing boats. That part of the process ended up being very challenging; it was difficult to accomplish a result worthy of the art. Also, the skeleton preparation process was time-consuming so I began to look for alternate sources for the skeletons. Now I secure the skeletons from experts in the field, such as Professor Steve Huskey, Ph.D., an expert in functional design and ecological utility in vertebrates at Western Kentucky University. He has prepared many of my skeletons.
Currently, I make less than 20 pieces a year, and a few of those I make while I am at sea if the weather and the seas permit.
I really enjoy creating these compositions, the fluid art, working the steel, and the overall design process, and I hope that you enjoy the natural beauty and focus on nature as well.
Best Regards,
Captain Pete

"Anamika Venkatesh, a native of BIDAR, India, is an abstract artist, using acrylics as her primary medium. Her profound connection with the world of painting, coloring, and drawing was forged in her formative years. Although she embarked on her academic journey in architecture, it was within the hallowed halls of her architectural studies that Anamika unearthed her latent talents in painting & sculpture-making, igniting her formal foray into the world of ART. Armed with nearly two decades of experience as an architect, Anamika's relocation to the United States presented her with an unparalleled opportunity to immerse herself in the art domain.
Captivated by the intersection of art and architecture, Anamika's work delves into the beauty and design of architectural structures and their profound influence on our lives. Her artistic inspiration is in the formal elements of architecture: lines, shapes, textures and forms. Often portraying cityscapes, interiors and architectural landmarks in her work, she strives to explore the sensory aspects of architecture, including how light, sound and movement interact with buildings."

Come See Art Quilts by Suzanne at the Windermere West Metro during Artwalk, Thursday January 11th from 5-8pm.
"Suzanne Uschold has lived in West Seattle since 1987. After taking a basic quilting class in 2014, she quickly discovered a passion for art quilts, with a special interest in nature and landscapes. She never considered herself an artist until she realized she could “paint” with fabric and thread using a variety of techniques including collage, applique, thread painting and free motion quilting. She has shown her work in a variety of places including the International Quilt and Fiber Arts Festival, the Pacific NW Quilt and Fiber Arts Museum, Schack Art Center and Vashon Center for the Arts as well as many local businesses."

Reel Eyes: Art by Nicole Laub
As a neurodivergent person, I view and process the world differently from others. Making art has become a form of therapy former and helps ease my anxiety. Everything makes sense and feels right when I’m creating. While drawing and collaging, I am inspired by colors, shapes, movement, feelings, and numerous other variables. My hope is to bring people joy, humor, and a variety of other emotions through my art.

"Rena Haveson has been painting for 25 years. She began her education at Boston University studying Art and Art History. From 1988 to 1996 she owned and operated an art gallery in Pittsburgh, PA., displaying works by contemporary American painters, including her own.
Strong color and passion for life are evident in her work. Subject matter is often expressionistic, with dream-like qualities. She often uses a palette knife or collage techniques to enrich the canvas. This is to allow the viewer to constantly wander in and out of reality while perceiving the painting.
The Faces series is a collection of feelings and emotions that lend themselves to an abstract vision. The paint is built up with layers of acrylic and oil and then it is painted over again so that there is a sense of mystery of what was before, beneath the layers of paint

"Hi friends! I’m Alizah Naomi Olivas, designer/creator of ANO Jewelry (aka: Alizah’s Jewelry)
My jewelry journey began in the early 2000’s when I took a French beaded flower class with my sister. I then took wire wrapping & various beading classes at a local bead store. I learned what I liked as well as what I would never try again…seed bead woven bracelets anyone?
Turns out the class that taught me how to fuse fine 99.9% silver was the most inspirational. Fusing can only happen if the metal is pure enough to have the same melting point…the ends join or bond together. No chemicals other than a butane flame was needed. Mind blowing! I could make big silver hoops in my living room! And I liked working with the silver…I liked that it was cold, liked bending it, hammering it, linking it…design possibilities were popping into my head. I’ve been selling for the last 10 years at Capers in West Seattle. All jewelry is made by me in my home studio with the endless support from my husband Paul and yellow labs Gracie & Jones. Without them, this would not be as fun!"
