July is Disability Pride Month, a time to celebrate the diversity, resilience, and achievements of people with disabilities. It is also a time to raise awareness and challenge the stigma and discrimination that they face in society.

One of the people who exemplifies disability pride is Marlee Matlin, a deaf actress, author, and activist. She is the only deaf performer to win an Academy Award for Best Actress for her role in “Children of a Lesser God” (1986). She has shown that disability is not a barrier to success or happiness, but a source of strength and pride.
