Meet Maybel! 🌾

A kind-hearted woman found this sweet girl in early spring, scrounging leftover birdseed under her backyard birdfeeder and called us. Maybel had bravely escaped a meat farm and spent her first winter alone in the woods. Despite severe frostbite deforming her ears and tail, she’s a resilient spirit!

Now, she’s thriving and has become best buds with our other youngster pig, Peach.
These two are always getting into playful mischief in their 3-acre pasture! 🐷❤️

There are many ways to stay cool on a blazing hot day. But, let’s face it, most of those ways involve a kiddie pool!!! 💦

🌩️ Storm Update from the Sanctuary 🌩️

Last night’s microburst thunderstorm brought down a massive pine tree, crushing a section of our sheep pasture fence. Luckily no critters were near it! 🙌

Of course our amazing animals, like always, help us look on the bright side of things — they’re finding something delectable even in the face of the damage, loving the fresh foliage from the fallen branches! 🍃🐑🐐

Thanks for your support as we clean up and repair. Hope you all handled the storm with no issues.

Today's Veterinarian Spotlight is on Dr. Phillips! Dr. Phillips is a long time Fix 'Ur Cat member since 2010.

Twyla’s Sunny Siesta! ☀️

Look at our beautiful alpaca, Twyla, caught in the act of pure bliss, she's soaking up the sun and enjoying a well-deserved nap in the grass. 💤

Did you know that just like us, farm animals love basking in the sunshine and taking naps? Allowing animals to freely enjoy the outdoors and engage in natural behaviors, like sunbathing and napping, is vital for their happiness and health.

Twyla’s contented smile reminds us all to enjoy the simple things in life!!

🌾 Farm Fun with Upper St. Clair High School Students! 🌾

Today, we had the pleasure of welcoming a fantastic group of students from Upper St. Clair High School to our farm!

Despite the rainy weather, these students were incredibly polite, engaging, and caring towards our animals.

Their curiosity and great questions during the farm tour made the experience enjoyable for everyone. After the tour, we gathered for a quick vegan snack under our event tents, then braved the elements to tackle some important farm chores.

The students helped us immensely by removing large branches and debris from our pastures—an essential task for keeping our fields healthy for our animals. Their hard work and positive attitude were truly valuable and appreciated.

Our animals loved the extra attention and scratches, and we thoroughly enjoyed meeting and working with these amazing young people. Engaging with our community is so important to us, and today was a perfect example of why we love our supporters.

Thank you, Upper St. Clair High School, for a great morning on the farm! 🌧️🐐🌻

What a great day!!

Even though our property is very small we try hard to always rotate our pastures. This helps keep parasite numbers low and allows the grass to grow back after getting munched down by our animals. 🌾

Today we let the sheep crew into the front pasture which has been resting for the past 4 weeks.

It was like letting kids loose in a candy store! They can graze to their hearts content! 🍬

We will be picking our honorary “Helper” tomorrow from the amazing individuals nominated by YOU, our awesome followers, for our first annual “Hope Haven’s Help the Helpers" project.

For those who missed our initial announcement, “Help the Helpers” is a special initiative we came up with to celebrate our local unsung heroes in animal welfare. We're recognizing one outstanding individual with a luxurious care package filled with treats and gifts to show our gratitude for their dedication and hard work.
We can't wait to brighten someone's day and show our appreciation for their compassion and commitment to animal welfare. Every nominee and everyone in animal rescue truly deserves recognition for their tireless efforts.

It was a busy day today at the farm as we are getting ready for our big garden party this weekend.

It’s so challenging to remain focused on chores when the animals are always so cute and entertaining.
