Home loan borrowing costs eased again this week as the average rate on a 30-year mortgage declined to its lowest level since early April.

The rate fell to 6.87% from 6.95% last week, mortgage buyer Freddie Mac said. A year ago, the rate averaged 6.67%.

Amazon has begun posting jobs for the facility in Baton Rouge. They will be hiring for more than 1,000 full-time roles and positions, which will be posted on a rolling basis for the next several weeks after 7pm on Friday’s.

Gasoline prices have seen their biggest weekly decline of the year, but a spike at the pump could still come later this summer.

On Tuesday, the national average for gasoline stood at $3.52 per gallon, down $0.06 from one week ago — the largest weekly drop of 2024.
