For this page’s 100th post, let’s talk about a project I’ve been working on for a while.
I’ve been looking into older films with lgbtq+ themes, characters, etc, and have been compiling them.
Let’s start with Algie the Miner!
This film begins with an effeminate man, Algie, being told by the father of the woman he loves that he must prove himself as a man before he can have his daughter’s hand. Algie ends up meeting and rooming with Jim who shows him the ropes of mining. Through necessity, Algie ends up becoming more masculine and tough by the end of the film. Jim and Algie end up becoming so close that Jim stops drinking so heavily for his friend and goes with Algie to “see him claim his girl.”

I want this blog to be a reflection of the local LGBTQ+ folks and history, and that includes their stories. Like it says in the pic though, you can choose whether you’d like your story to be anonymous or not.
I will screen stories to make sure I don’t need to add disclaimers or content warnings.

Hey folks, say hi to !
Hannah is a q***r artist from Louisiana who loves to create. While volunteering for Q-Prom, she wanted to make a piece that let people know “that we’ve always been here.” While researching q***r vintage images she saw the picture above, inspiring her to recreate vintage buttons. They went over so well she decided to make a “venture” of it, and here we are now! Check out her socials, she is taking commissions, like my lovely new profile picture!!
