Our big beautiful Oscar is dealing with a eye issue.
This is something we've dealt with a few times in the almost 8 months he's been with us. He is on a daily eye drop to keep his eyes moisturized. Oscar is such a happy dog, he is really my only dog that is excited to go any and everywhere- even the vet! Lol
We wanted to have him seen before the long holiday weekend so he is at Bossier Animal Hospital as a drop off.
As mentioned before our rescue funds are going out much quicker than they're coming in so I thought I'd ask for a little help today.
Once I know the exact plan and approximate cost I'll update this post.

Rocky is ready to find a FOREVER home or even a foster.
After being with a foster almost a month and only getting positive feed back I was contacted Friday evening stating he was acting possessive of his yard towards the 11 year old neighbor and they couldn't take any chances with him. So Saturday morning I picked him up.
I've not seen any possessiveness over anything and we have people of all ages coming and going all the time as I have kids myself.
In my honest opinion Rocky is pretty close to perfect. He is house trained, great with all dogs of all sizes, he even does well with cats, kennel trained, rides well in the car, doesn't jump, walks well on a leash, amd minds well.
He makes 9 dogs at my house and although he is cared for he needs a FOREVER FAMILY. Where he gets all the love. .He is neutered, UTD on vaccines, on flea/tick prevention. He is heartworm positive (which isn't contagious)
We have given him a proheart 12 which is a slow kill method of ridding the heartworms amd much easier on his 10 year old senior body. .

BREAKING NEWS: ALL DOGS AND CATS IN CADDO PARISH MUST BE SPAYED/NEUTERED IMMEDIATELY

CADDO PARISH COMMISSION REENACTS PARISHWIDE SPAY/NEUTER LEGISLATION

Caddo Parish, LA – The Caddo Parish Commission passed legislation aimed at promoting public safety at their regular session meeting held on August 8.

The Commission amended and reenacted parish wide spay/neuter legislation designed to reduce the number of intakes and euthanasia of animals in Caddo Parish.

The ordinance, which was originally adopted by the Commission in 2022, requires most dogs and cats within Caddo Parish to be spayed or neutered, with additional requirements and some exemptions.

“Caddo Parish Animal Services currently takes in between 4,000-5,000 animals each year,” said Caddo Parish Animal Services Director Travis Clark. “With the reenactment of this ordinance, the goal is to humanely reduce the number of dogs and cats taken in by Animal Services, and to reduce any subsequent euthanasia as we address population control,” said Clark.

The amended spay/neuter ordinance applies to all unincorporated areas of Caddo Parish to dogs and cats that now are at least 26 weeks or older (6 months).

The ordinance does provide exclusions under the following conditions:

⚪️ Any dog or cat that is registered with the officially recognized pedigree/kennel club associations (American Kennel Club, American Dog Breeding Association, etc.), providing that the owner can provide annual proof of membership and participation in show at least once a year in events sponsored by the organization.

⚪️ Animals with a chronic health condition or disease whose health will be seriously or permanently affected by a spay/neuter procedure, providing that the owner provides official documentation by a licensed veterinarian.

⚪️ Sporting dog breeds utilized for hunting activities that are up to date on all vaccinations and possess tracking collars.

⚪️ Animal establishment owners as well as those who have breeding permits (intact females) or intact permits (males), providing that these animals are microchipped and that the permit is obtained annually.

The honest exception clause, included in the previous legislation, has now been removed.

The primary penalty for violation of this section shall be a citation, not to exceed $250.00 and the cost of microchipping the animal.

Upon follow up after 30 days of the first citation, the owner shall have a documented appointment for spay/neuter or receive an additional citation, not to exceed $500.00.

The spay and neuter legislation goes into effect immediately.

Hello. My name is Oreo. My foster mom tells me I'm cute and my ears are unique. I almost always have one ear up. I'm a fun-loving happy girl. I'm UTD on shots, spayed and I'm about 60 lbs. I love my toys, snuggles, belly rubs, going on walks and playing fetch inside. I spent most of my life on a chain in the yard. Now I'm living the good life inside. I came into rescue after Christmas when I was dealing with a difficult prengnancy. The rescue and their vet saved me. My foster mom says I'm a quick learner. I'm housebroken and kennel trained. I'm a big chewer so the best toys for me are my Kong or Nylabone/Lumabone. I especially love peanut butter in the Kong. I love all toys but they say I destroy the other toys in about 5 minutes. We walk with other dogs, but I don't pay attention to them during the walk. I'm too interested in all the smells. I'm ready for a family of my own. Will you be my family? In just a couple months Rainy will have been with us a full year....
She is a GREAT dog!
She is very smart and eager to please and she LOVES her people.
She's a happy dog who lives for playing fetch. She will chase a ball and bring it back a million times. She knows several commands and even did 2 weeks of board and train at All Dogs Unleashed.
She enjoys car rides, riding the side by side, and running through trails and mud holes. She will definitely do best with someone who will exercise her and spend time with her outside. I think she would make a great hiking partner.
She is approximately 3 5 years old but still has a baby/puppy face and she's on the smaller side. She is short and only weighs about 35 pounds.
She is good with most other dogs as long as they are good with her. She doesn't look for trouble but I do think she would react if a dog initiated it.
She would do best with a active playful male dog or as a only dog.
She is fully vetted- spayed/microchipped/ current on prevention/UTD on vaccines.

Looking for a foster or foster to adopt****

Libby is a sweet, happy, energetic, and very playful puppy! She is a social butterfly who never meets a stranger and also loves other dogs. She is a typical young pup who is still learning manners and working on house training. She does very well in a kennel. She is scheduled to be spayed August 8th and will be available to be officially adopted after. We are looking for a possible foster to adopt home if local to the Shreveport/Bossier area. We do adopt out of state but she could not travel for 2 weeks after her spay. She is UTD on vaccines, microchipped, and current on prevention. She was found dumped near a dumpster at a truck stop so we do not know her history and breed is just a guess. We do believe she will be medium sized when full grown. 35-40 pounds is my best guess.
Her current foster is a teacher who is starting back work and her husband who planned to be able to help out has a unexpected work trip so we need a new place for her to hang out for the next 5 weeks or so, or even forever if you're interested in adopting.

Dewbie had a birthday!
Our girl turned 3 years old on Monday 🥳 🎂
She came to us at 6 weeks old. She has Spina Bifida. She is mobile but incontinent and requires diapers.
She was adopted once at 6 months and returned and we decided she would likely be a forever Saved By Grace girl.
I know her so well- I can read her and know when she is coming down with a UTI which she deals with occasionally. She also hates cats and most other dogs so she is more than a lot of people are willing to deal with but we love her and all her quirks lol
Our girl runs through diapers just like a human baby would so there is always a need for diapers.
We love the Rascal and friends brand sold at Walmart and have also done well with the dollar general brand and also huggies.
She wears the size 7 diapers.

Diesel is your typical happy go l lucky puppy who loves everyone and everything. He is a very loving pup who loves to snuggle and give love. He is currently in a foster home with several other dogs, a house pig, and lives amongst several farm animals as well. He loves being with other dogs :)
He is kennel trained and about 95% house trained.. He is a smart boy who is eager to please and catches on quick.
He is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines including rabies and on flea/tick/heartworm prevention. He Was found as a tiny stray pup abandoned at a baseball field so his history is unknown. We do believe he is a mix breed who will be medium to large sized when full grown.He is the sweetest boy and will make a great addition to any home. He is currently in a foster home here in Shreveport, LA but we adopt often to the northeast so transport can easily be arranged.

This is literally life or death for this kitten, a litter mate, and a adult cat that is possibly mom. This beautiful boy tested positive for feline leukemia, rather than euthanize we want to pay for a blood test to confirm. Sometimes babies can test positive and actually be negative.
In 13 years of living where I live I've never had stray cats. However a neighbor several houses down has tons of unaltered cats that have recently become a problem. They are now trying to address the issue.
The blood test for each cat is $189
I'd like to raise $600.
This is a lot to ask but what else do we do?
The kittens do not appear physically sick at this time and my heart just can't put them down when there is a chance they aren't actually positive.

After several unfortunate stays at animal control this is Rockys last freedom ride.
He will live the rest of his life being loved and cared for in a home 🥰

This is our bill only half way through the month and that's after I made a $300 payment this afternoon.
We have slowed down on intakes until last week when we committed to 2 dogs, one of which was pretty sick.
Today we committed to Rocky who is a heartworm positive senior dog.
We also have several spay and neuters at robinsons this month which is a separate invoice.
We also have extra boarding cost this month and we always need basic care and food for our long time dogs and cats.
All this adds up to thousands each month and with slow intakes and slow adoptions the money is going out way quicker than it's coming in.

Still no dependable foster offer for Rocky****
All the pics besides the first one were this morning all before I went to work- my day job that isn't rescue related.
3 dogs went to the vet, 1 dog went to foster, and 3 kittens went to the petsmart window to hopefully find homes.
This doesn't include all the packing up and loading supplies for each animal.
This is also just from my home. The president of our rescue has just as much going on plus she does so much TNR of local cats which is a lot of work and running around and money.
I'm planning a short 3 day get away and I'm taking 3 dogs with me, boarding 3 dogs, and having my older son take care of 2 at home.
Our lives are so busy with all of our current rescue obligations.
Without a committed foster for Rocky we will not be able to help him.
He is a old guy who deserves somewhere to enjoy life and not tossed around, found in the streets, or waiting at animal control for a miracle.... it's so sad but we can only do as much as we are physically able to do.

Rainy has gotten very little adoption interest 💔
She is a favorite at our house. All the kids and my husband adore her.
She LOVES to fetch a ball and will chase it and bring it back a million times.
She likes being outside with my husband while he works. She does well on and off leash and never leaves our sides.
She also had 2 weeks of board and train through All Dogs Unleashed. This training is for life and her trainer will work with her adopter in the future.
She does well with most other dogs but can be a little bossy with females so her ideal home would be with a male dog or as a only dog .
She is around 3 years old and UTD on vaccines and prevention. She is also spayed and microchipped.
She's on the shorter side and weighs about 40 pounds.
She needs a active home. A family who will get her out of the house and spend time with her. She does enjoy lounging but she needs to be exercised daily.

He's taken this ride many times 💔
He rode so well in my car Monday. Loaded himself and set there so patiently..
He would occasionally lean over and lick my hand or arm while I drove.
He didn't know where we were going, he was just happy to ride.
This guy who is approximately 10 years old was adopted from caddo animal control in 2016 and returned 2024 because his family was moving.
He was adopted again late April 2024 by a shreveport resident but found recently wandering in Stonewall,hot and tired in July.
He is chipped to his owner but the number listed on the chip and his adoption papers no longer belongs to the adopter.
Rocky has to do a legal stray hold of 7 business days to give his "owner" a chance to reclaim.
The shelter is a loud over crowded sad place for animals.
We want to see to it that this is his last time in a shelter...
We want to see him live out the rest of his days in a FOREVER home.
We need a COMMITTED foster or adopting family to step up and help us.
Our personal homes are full and we aren't able to give this sweet old man what he needs so we need your help.
We supply whatever is needed along with vet care.
He did well with 2 smaller dogs here and we will ask the shelter to temperament test him with other dogs more his size.

** Who wants to Foster?***
This sweet boy is staying the night with us tonight and we will give him a ride to Caddo Animal Control tomorrow.
He was found recently roaming in Stonewall,LA but was adopted from caddo animal control in late April.
We do know the adopter is a caddo parish resident so We don't know how he ended up in Stonewall or if his adopters even want him anymore ,but since we do know he was adopted from there and microchipped we will take him there and let them follow their protocol. After 4 business days(I believe) if not reclaimed a rescue can pull him.
He's a senior and we would hate for him to slip through the cracks at the shelter BUT he would need a committed foster family.
He has met a older small male dog here and a puppy and done well with both. We will introduce him to a couple other dogs in the morning.

He was adopted from caddo animal control in Shreveport, LA late April or early May of this year.
He has been roaming stonewall, LA for over a week looking for water and shade.
He was recently picked up by a sweet girl who can only hold until Monday.
He needs to be reunited with owners who hopefully have a good reason for why he's been loose and on his own or he will likely go back to animal control.
He's a old man- around 9 years old. The pound is no place for a sweet old guy like him.

This little girl needs a cute name! What would you call her?

She was exhausted and ate up by ants.

She has had 2 baths and eaten good and now she's resting.
