To all the parents, grandparents, teachers and student helpers who were able to help with Day of Awesome: Thank you SO MUCH!! It was your time, effort, and desire to help that made this day awesome! The students loved it and we look forward to being able to host more events like this next year! CONGRATULATIONS to our very own Mrs. Culver for being selected as a recipient of the prestigious Lew Roth Award in the area of Special Education. We are beyond proud of all Mrs. Culver does to support students in being the very best they can be! Thank you to the Simi Valley Education Foundation for this great honor!

An amazing day spent with some Tigers at the Olympics today! So proud of all of you for exemplifying Garden Grove Tiger Pride!!!

The Tigers had a great assembly today thanks to Eco Hero! What a great way to promote taking care of the earth and celebrating each student as an Eco Hero!

Garden Grove Dine Out Night - 1/31/24 - 10 AM - 10 PM. All proceeds will go toward field trips this school year! Thank you!

What a great way to start the day!! The Garden Grove staff transformed into the cast of Despicable Me! We had many minions, Gru, Edith, and Agnes! Love the school spirit these amazing professionals show every single day! The kids all looked amazing and the families all were dancing along with the parade festivities! Way to go Tigers!!!

This Wednesday, you are invited to join us for "Meet Me at the Library" starting at 6PM. It is also a convenient DINE OUT night at Panda Express and Yogurtland! Hope to see you there!

WEEKEND CHALLENGE: OUT OF STATE! The class to get pledges from THE MOST STATES (outside of CA) will earn a PIZZA PARTY WITH THE APEX TEAM!

The TEAM with the MOST SHARES on the Share Wizard will get to have a WATER BALLOON party with Apex!

Over the next 2 weeks, Apex will help our students discover and unlock their POWER to become world-changing leaders! The students will master 5 habits that will transform them into leaders and give them the POWER to change the world! We’ll highlight a different leadership habit each day so families can continue the conversation at home.

Each student possesses the POWER to make a difference! A difference in their life, their school, their community, and this world!! Each and every one of us is important and has value. No matter who we are, what we look like, or where we come from!

Today's staff development day focused on looking at student achievement data to provide targeted instruction with support and enrichment for ALL GG Tigers. Our 5th grade students put on their Wax Museum. They presented for their family visitors and the entire school! What a great effort! Speeches were amazing…costumes were impressive…and everyone absolutely loved it!!! We even had a special guest visitor! Thank you, Hani Youssef for all the support!!

Garden Grove is celebrating Kindness Week! We ask students this week how can YOU show kindness to others? we challenged them to be the “I” in KIND! Parents, please share any pictures you may have taken in front of our banner this week!!! We’d love to include them in our yearbook!!

Just a reminder that we are celebrating Unity Day tomorrow by wearing orange. This is our promise to show kindness and acceptance to everyone by creating a visible message that no child should ever experience bullying. Every student should have an orange APEX shirt that they can wear, so we hope to see 100% participation.

▶ 𝗧𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆’𝘀 #𝗔𝗽𝗲𝘅 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗵𝗮𝗯𝗶𝘁 𝗶𝘀: REALIZE

2 weeks ago, we set out on a quest in search of the key to becoming great leaders, and we solved the mystery. The first letter from each of the daily habits spells out “FACTOR”- Fearless, Adapt, Care, Talk ‘em up, Original, and Realize. Today is when we REALIZE that we have all the traits necessary to become the “X-FACTOR” and change the world!

🗣 𝗔𝘁 𝗵𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗿: The Apex leadership lessons finished today, and discovered what it means to be the “X-FACTOR”. Awesome job! How can you apply what you’ve learned at home and school to keep being a great leader all year long?

We have made it to our awesome PRINCIPAL CHALLENGE! Basically, if every student got one more pledge of a flat $30 or $1/lap, we’d make it!

When we talk positively about ourselves it can give us the strength to keep going, the strength to overcome challenges we face. Encouraging others and highlighting their strengths can also bring out the best in them!

🗣 𝗔𝘁 𝗵𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗿: Ask your child how it feels when someone pays them a compliment or says something encouraging. Talk about ways that they can also make others feel good about themselves. Discuss words and phrases that can turn negative thoughts around, like instead of saying “I can’t do that,” say “I can’t do that, YET.” Rather than focusing on being smart or good at something, change the focus to how hard they tried or how much they have improved.

Over the next 2 weeks, Apex will take students on a mission to discover the X-FACTOR. During this mission the students will learn a combination of different habits that unlock the SECRET to making our world a better place for everyone. We’ll highlight a different leadership habit each day so families can continue the conversation at home.

▶ Our first Apex leadership habit is FEARLESS. Being fearless means we’re willing to push ourselves outside of our comfort zone. It means we’re willing to take the first step into the unknown, even if we fail!

🗣 𝗔𝘁 𝗵𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗿: Ask your child if they have ever been afraid to try something new because they thought they wouldn’t be able to do it well. Talk to them about ways to break down a big challenge into smaller pieces, so it is easier to overcome.

Garden Grove had some pretty awesome dancers today for our First annual Dance Festival!! Great job Tigers! We had very creative teachers and students who made sure this was a memorable event! Thank you to all the families who came out to support and cheer on the kids.
