***Tackle Games Will Be Played Tonight***

According to the National Weather Service, the weather should be clearing up by 5:30-6pm with a small chance of a thunderstorm, between 5pm and 6pm. The worst-case scenario would be that the start of games could be delayed for a brief period. In light of that information, the games tonight will be played as scheduled.

If any coaches have practices scheduled tonight, please use your best judgment in regard to the weather in your area.

***ATTENTION***
Due to the heat index reaching 100 degrees, all teams are prohibited from practicing today (August 26).

Due to heat/heat index forecasted for today (August 25), any practices that coaches had scheduled for today are cancelled league-wide. Please note that all flag games scheduled for today will be played. Thanks!

Due to the strong possibility of a heat warning being issued for tomorrow, the SDJRFB Board of Directors made the decision to cancel all tackle games for tomorrow. This decision was made for the safety of the players and officials. The games will be rescheduled as follows:

All Junior games scheduled to be played in Sioux Falls will be rescheduled to Thursday (August 29). The game schedules have been updated on our league website.

All P*e Wee and Senior Division games will be played on Monday (September 2). P*e Wee Division games will be played at 6pm and Senior Division games will be played at 7:30pm.

All games scheduled to be played in Yankton tomorrow (Sunday) are also cancelled. A decision has not yet been made regarding the reschedule date for those games. Once a decision has been made, a separate email will be sent out regarding the reschedule date.

It’s warm outside; however, the weather is perfect inside the fieldhouse for our flag football program. The kindergarten division kicked off the season this morning. First grade and second grade divisions will finish out the day.

RMDM Concession Stand at South Dakota Junior Football is excited to kick off the 2024 Junior Football season! For the 1st week, we are selling our "Midwest Green" Fla-Vor-Ice for $1.00 and donating the sales to the Sioux Falls Little League team, that are currently living their 12 year old dreams at the Little League World Series in Williamsport, PA. Tuesday was the perfect night for scrimmages and training our new officials. Tackle games begin in 2 days!

Do you have a girl entering Kindergarten through the 8th grade that wants to play in our girls flag division after seeing her friends practicing last week? If so, we can still get a few more girls on our teams.

If you have a player who is interested, please email us at [email protected] and we will send you a registration link. There is no late fee. $180 regular registration fee.

****HELP WANTED****
We are in need to a volunteer coach for a 3rd/4th grade boys flag team and a 5th/6th grade boys flag team. Both teams are based in Sioux Falls. 3rd/4th grade teams play games on Sunday afternoons and 5th/6th grade teams play on Tuesday nights. Games will begin August 25 and August 27 and continue through the end of October.

If you are at least 19 years old, or you know of someone who is at least 19 years old, and have an interest in coaching, please reach out to us at 605-334-3140.

Some of the requirements to be the coach are:

1. Complete the online flag coach's registration link (link found on the home page of our website),

2. Complete an online certification through USA Football, which is paid for by the league. (directions are on the homepage of our website)

3. Complete a criminal background screening, which is paid for by the league, and takes about 5 minutes to complete online. (link is found on the homepage of our website)

4. Be organized and schedule practices (teams may practice up to 3 times per week prior to the start of games, and may practice up to 2 times per week after the start of games).

There are plenty of resources available online and through USA football, and members of the SDJRFB Board of Directors can also help anyone who volunteers get started.

Please consider coaching. It is a rewarding experience, and you will have a significant impact on many kids and their love for the game of football! If you have any questions or want to volunteer, please call 605-334-3140.

605 HOGS O-LINE CAMP

Calling all offensive lineman! South Dakota State Offensive lineman are putting on a camp for grades 3rd thru High School at Lennox High School June 27th and 28th. Each session will be taught by current SDSU Lineman. Learn drills, and technique from one of the best groups in the country.
