Ian's Thumbs Up FUNd

Thanks to YOUR generosity, another round of weighted blankets for pediatric patients have been ordered! The Occupational Therapy team provides Sensory Processing services for the children and adolescents admitted to the inpatient Behavioral Health Hospital. They teach strategies to help them calm and cope when they are struggling. One of the techniques is to provide them with a weighted blanket to help calm when super stressed and unable to sit and attend. Children are gifted these blankets to take with them and keep when they go home.
Thank you for your continued support of Ian’s Thumbs Up FUNd for providing not only “fun” things for the children, but also monetary and therapeutic assistance. It is because of your generosity that we are able to continue to help as many as we can!
Voices Against Cancer

This makes our hearts happy and full. Some of you may remember several years ago when we did a fundraiser with the help and support of Taco John’s here in Sioux Falls.
Today would’ve been the 21st birthday of the special soul that this FUNd was created for to share his legacy, Ian Keisacker

Last year we were so very appreciative of the amazing donation from Voices Against Cancer, helping to further our mission of providing something fun for kids at Avera McKennan Children's Hospital, while also providing financial assistance for families to try and lessen the burden. With the help of the Avera Foundation and the social workers, we are wanting to expand the network to broaden our ability to help in the area of pediatrics.
We know that the namesake of this FUNd, Ian Keisacker, would be over the moon excited for who has been announced so far for the July 15th, 2023 Year 2 Voices Against Cancer Initiative and the Sioux Empire St. Baldrick's Head Shaving Event, and we are excited to once again be a recipient of Voices Against Cancer's generosity. St. Francis of Assisi has always been Ian’s favorite saint. He loved his messages and his love of animals among many other things. St. Francis considered Christmas as the “Feast of Feasts”!
Francis' love for Christmas was celebrated in a special way in 1223, and that celebration shaped for us how we celebrate today with our nativity scenes.
Merry Christmas to all of you, may peace find its way to our hearts each and every day of the year.

Tomorrow, December 21st, we will be honoring the boy who is responsible for this FUNd, Mr. Ian Keisacker. He left this Earth eight years ago on the darkest day of the year, the first day of winter. We will be honoring him by hopefully bringing a little light into other’s lives by doing special, anonymous, special gifts of service and “paying it forward”. We ask that you would kindly do the same, keeping with Ian’s sense of humility, making sure it is done anonymously.
