Come swim, bike, and run in this fun mini triathlon catered to kids and teenagers between 6 and 18 years of age. This special event is co-sponsored by Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield. Prizes will be awarded to the top three male and female finishers in each division, and a drawing will be held for a $250 gift certificate from ERIK’s Bike Shop. Ages 6 and 7 will swim 1 length of pool (33m), bike 1 full lap around park (.64 mile), run half mile
Ages 8 and 9 will swim 1.5 lengths of pool (50m), bike 2 full laps around park (1.3 miles), run half mile
Ages 10 and 11 will swim 2 lengths of pool (66m), bike 3 full laps around park (1.92 miles), run 1 mile
Ages 12 and 13 will swim 100 m, bike 4 full laps around park (2.5 miles), run 1 mile
Ages 14 to 18 will swim 200 m, bike 6 full laps around park (3.84 miles), run 1.5 miles

9 am: packet pick up, all racers must be onsite by 9:30am
10 am: 6-7 age start
10:15 am: 8-9 age start
10:30 am: 10-11 age start
10:45am: 12-13 age start
11 am: 14-18 age start

Our Great Cardboard Boat Race is coming back for the 7th Summer! Join this fun race , where you get to display your impressive creations and see if they stand the test of water! The entrance to Pasley Park at Southeastern Avenue will be closed to vehicles from Monday to Thursday (July 25) for road repairs. The park will be accessible via the recreation trail system during the project.

Good news for westside recreation trail users! All bridges are open between Dunham and Legacy parks after June's flash flooding. All repairs have been made and this officially reopens the entirety of the trail system.

Each year, our workforce grows by the hundreds in the form of seasonal and part-time staff who aid us in everything from park upkeep to playground programs to lifeguarding. Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation will be hosting the final two Free Family Fridays on July 19 (Terrace Park Family Aquatic Center) and July 26 (Kuehn Pool). Looking for a challenge? We have one for you. Instead of hitting the trails for a 5K this summer, join Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation for one in the river! Not the Big Sioux River, but the lazy river at Drake Springs Family Aquatic Center. Enjoy the challenge of running a 5K against the current! Not interested in completing 44 laps on your own? No worries. Grab a friend and create a two-person or four-person relay. Open to the first 100 registrants. Register early for a T-shirt! Registration required. Our outdoor "swimming cinema" returns! To watch from the water, bring your own air mattress or inflatable device. (No inflatables with cutout centers). There will also be seating on the deck. Games start at 8 P.M. with show times at approximately 9 P.M.

We're excited for our friends at Game, Fish & Parks Outdoor Campus - Sioux Falls as they celebrated a groundbreaking expansion of the campus at Sertoma Park.

The expansion will add an outdoor range, an archery/bb gun range, three new classrooms, outdoor cooking space and a dedicated game processing space.

Toddler Nature Explorers: Animals & Birds, originally scheduled on June 21st, is being rescheduled to July 26th from 10-11:30am at Arrowhead Park! 🦅🐢🐍 Join us for an exciting walk in search of animals, create your own animal craft, & read a wild story with us!
