🇺🇸 Today, on the 23rd anniversary of 9/11, we pause to honor the lives lost, the heroes who emerged, and the resilience of a nation forever changed. At Dr. Aust Interventional Pain, we remember the sacrifices made and stand with those who continue to be affected by this tragedy. Get ready, Southeast Louisiana! Francine is going to hit fast and hard. Expect winds gusts 80-100 MPH south of the I-10/12 corridor including NOLA with 70+ MPH gusts penetrating further inland. Widespread power outages are likely if this verifies. Weather will quickly go downhill after lunchtime, with the worst coming tonight.

🌀 The Slidell Police Department is closely monitoring Tropical Storm with weather and government officials. If you haven’t started to do so yet, now’s the time to 𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐝!

St. Tammany Parish Government is closely monitoring Potential Tropical Cyclone Six, which is expected to impact Louisiana later this week.

Our Public Works crews are mobilized and preparations across the parish include inspecting ponds to lower water levels and ordering fuel to top off all tanks.

Self-service sandbag locations continue to be open at the following 5 locations:

• Airport Road Public Works Barn (34783 Grantham College Drive, Slidell)
• Fritchie Public Works Barn (63119 LA-1090, Pearl River)
• Keller Public Works Barn (63131 Fish Hatchery Road, Lacombe)
• St. Tammany Parish Government Complex (21410 Koop Drive, Mandeville)
• Covington Public Works Barn (1305 N. Florida Street, Covington)

Please bring your own shovel. Assistance will be available to those in need by calling 985-898-2557.

9/12/24 Update:

All STPPS schools and support sites will reopen on Friday, September 13th.

Our team has evaluated every school campus following the storm and determined we can safely reopen. All schools and sites will follow normal schedules.

Thanks to our STPPS team, emergency responders, electric crews and everyone else who worked quickly to allow our schools to reopen.

Employees or students with extenuating circumstances who will not be able to report on Friday should contact their school principal or supervisor as soon as possible.

9/10/24 Update:

All STPPS schools and support sites will be closed Wednesday, September 11th and Thursday September 12th due to forecasted tropical weather.

After school care will take place as scheduled Tuesday. All other after school activities, including sports, clubs, and events are canceled beginning Tuesday at 5 p.m. and will be rescheduled.

We have made this decision in close coordination with the St. Tammany Office of Emergency Preparedness and Parish Officials.

Updates will be sent out through robocall/text, the district website at www.stpsb.org, and STPPS social media.

A HURRICANE WATCH is now in effect for Louisiana, a Tropical Storm Watch is also in effect. Residents need to be preparing for a hurricane impact by Wedneday. All hazards will be possible including hurricane force winds, flooding rains, storm surge and tornadoes. More updates to follow.
