Smyrna Jonquil Lions Club
The Smyrna Jonquil Lions Club is part of the world's largest service organization. We serve where we live, as well as globally, and we have fun doing it.
They say time flies when you are having fun.
Guess what? Time also flies when you are busy!
I'll not go into all the things we have been doing since my last post, as that would not be productive. Let me tell you what we are planning.
1. Our June meeting will be at the Smyrna Community Center at 5 pm. As our meetings last only one hour (we pride ourselves in service to the community as opposed to just meetings) come early and join us to see what Lions are all about!
2. July 11 we will be joining Pearson Middle School for a health festival. This will be a first time for us with Pearson MS for such an event. Can't wait!
3. July 20 we will join Keep Smyrna Beautiful for our second Adopt-a-Mile this year. This is always a spirited "walk in the park". Contact us if you would like to join us.
4. In August we resume Cobb County Lions' SCREEN TEAM in Cobb County Public Schools. This promises to be another year full of challenges screening more that 20,000 students. Why don't you join us?
5. September 14 we will host our 12th Annual Car Show. This is our only fundraiser each year. We sell ads in our coveted Car Show Program & Ad Book - contact us now to purchase an ad. Bring your classic car, or ask your neighbor to bring theirs and see if they win a trophy.

HEY. BE CAREFUL OUT THERE ROAMING THE INTERNET (FaceBook, Outlook, Instagram, whatever). The following is copied but it happens all the time. Call or text me if you see something that doesn't look right. I get scam emails and friend requests all the time and ignore them. Be wary of what you see online.
Apparently someone takes pleasure by hurting and offending people for absolutely NO REASON. Here is a heads up for everyone. There is a hack on FB. It includes a hurtful phrase or picture presumably coming from you. It is usually very dirty and appears that you have written it. You will NOT see it, but your friends will. This creates many misunderstandings. So to all of my contacts, if anything shocking, inappropriate, or indecent shows up ,it's not from me. DELETE IT and DO NOT OPEN IT. You may wish to copy this to your wall.

As they did four years ago in Lima, Peru, the USA Goalball teams came away with silver medals following the finals of the 2023 Parapan American Games in Santiago, Chile. The U.S. men’s team lost 12-2 to defending world and Paralympic champion Brazil in the men’s final, while the U.S. women dropped a 4-3 decision to Canada in their final qualification opportunity for next summer’s Paris 2024 Paralympic Games. The USA Men's Goalball Team finishes with a 3-0 record in Group B after defeating Venezuela, 15-5, on Monday behind a balanced scoring attack. All five players who saw the court made it onto the scoresheet. Tyler Merren led the way with 4 goals, followed by Zach Buhler, Tre'Shaun Faison and Matt Simpson each with 3.
