CCA needs a volunteer with a college degree and excellent English language skills to teach English to a class of adult learners.

Time: Tuesdays from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm
Place: Lilburn, GA
Commitment: Approximately 5 months

The National Eucharistic Congress (NEC) is this week, July 17-21! We estimate that over 400 pilgrims from the Archdiocese of Atlanta are attending in person. For those not able to attend in person, below are options to participate from afar via livestreaming and broadcast.

• NEC Website: Check out the NEC website which is livestreaming the main events taking place each day in Lucas Oil Stadium (including morning Mass at 8:30 a.m. ET; the daily Encounter Impact Session at 10:45 a.m. ET; and each day’s Revival Session at 7 p.m. ET). Please note that the NEC begins on Wednesday, July 17, at 7 p.m. ET and concludes with the final Revival Session and Closing Mass on Sunday, July 21, from 8:30 a.m. – noon.

• Other Options: EWTN is also covering the NEC through television and livestream, and Relevant Radio is broadcasting live from the congress.

Catholic Charities Atlanta is pleased to announce our continued partnership for the second year with Paint Love, providing monthly Art and Social Emotional Learning Programs to Indian Creek Elementary students!

Paint Love has provided over 30,000 young people and 150 organizations (us included!) the opportunity to learn different art mediums and techniques with professional Atlanta based artists. In doing so, Paint Love aims to empower children to explore their own personal identities, stories, and ideas so they can make their voices heard!

We would like to thank Paint Love for working with us to spread the joy of art to the next generation!

Last Friday, June 21st, CCA received generous donations in support of our Refugee Services Program at St. Mary’s Academy in Fayetteville, GA. The school was one of several destinations that the Juan Diego Route of the Eucharistic Pilgrimage visited in Georgia on their journey to Indianapolis for the National Eucharistic Pilgrimage. What is the Eucharistic Pilgrimage?
The Pilgrimage is inspired by the story of Jesus’s journey to Emmaus after his Resurrection. Much like his two disciples, who were freed from their grief in their walk with Christ, the Pilgrimage challenges participants to step away from their busy lives and rediscover the redemptive purpose of Jesus.

Beginning on May 18th, four routes, the Marian Route (North), the Seton Route (East), the Juan Diego Route (South), and the Serra Route (West), embarked on their Pilgrimage which will connect on July 16th in Indianapolis, IN at the National Pilgrimage.

In response to National Weather Service forecasts of heat indices exceeding 100 degrees, DeKalb County is opening cooling centers Friday, June 28, through Monday, July 1.

DeKalb County recreation centers and libraries will be available as cooling centers during the locations’ normal business hours. Water fountains will be accessible at recreation centers and libraries.

Recreation centers will be open on Sunday from noon to 6 p.m. A room in each available recreation center will be designated as a cooling center and water fountains will be accessible. During cooling center activations, recreation center pools will be free to the public from 2 to 6 p.m.

Libraries are closed on Sundays.

The DeKalb County Department of Human Services, located at 30 Warren Street, Atlanta, also will be open to the public as a cooling center Friday and Monday, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., during the excessive heat.

Persons in DeKalb County who need homelessness assistance or housing services can contact DeKalb County Coordinated Entry by calling (404) 687-3500.

We are recruiting volunteers with a college degree and excellent English language skills to teach English as a second language. Volunteers teach to a group of adult language learners in the mornings (9:30am – 12:30pm) or in the evenings (6:30pm – 9:30pm) Monday through Thursday. The ideal commitment is to volunteer one set day per week. We are looking for volunteers to teach in Chamblee, Lilburn, or online. A background check and formal application packet are required prior to starting. Please contact [email protected] if interested.

Last year, CCA had a total of 431 volunteers contribute their time to help those we serve!

CCA’s volunteers have collectively served 15,000 hours in the last year. Thank you for your impact not only on the services CCA provides, but the lives of the people we serve.
