This week is National Engineers Week!! Here is a list of events Lawrence Tech has scheduled on campus to promote the field of engineering. Today kicks off the golden calculator social media contest and tomorrow catch us in the atrium for some fun engineering challenges!

A group from SWE-Detroit will be volunteering at Gleaners Distribution Center in Detroit for 2.5 hours on Saturday May 5th if anyone is interested in joining. There will be networking and snacks after the event.

The Office of Career Services is hosting the Last Call Career Fair on April 12th from 12-2:30pm in the Buell Management Atrium, and they are looking for organizations to help transporting employer recruiting materials from cars to the atrium.

The last call career fair is Thursday April 12th from 12:30pm-2:30pm in the atrium. Challenge Manufacturing will have a booth at the fair and will be available afterwards in M210 to talk to SWE members about their company and internship opportunities.

Girls' Engineering Exploration (GEE) Day is sponsored by the Detroit SWE section on Saturday, March 17, 2018. The event "aims to expose 4th-6th grade girls to various fields of engineering and technology".

Location: Michigan Science Center, Detroit, MI

There are two ways to volunteer:

1. Mentor: The girls will be divided into groups of 4-5. Each mentor is responsible for monitoring their group throughout the day. Mentors must be available for the full day from 8AM - 4PM and attend training on March 5th.

2. Flex volunteer: Flex volunteers help with registration check-in, coat check, lunch distribution, activity support, room set-up/break-down, and other tasks. Flex volunteers can choose to be help for the full day (8AM - 4PM), morning (8AM - 12PM), or afternoon (12PM - 4PM).

Fill out the google form by Sunday, February 25 to register to volunteer.

Just a reminder that SWE scholarships are due February 15th!

Our next meeting will be on Wednesday January 24th at 5:45pm in T210.

We will have yoga afterwards from 6pm-6:30pm. You are welcome to come late to the meeting/yoga if you have class.

We still need volunteers for the LEGO event on Saturday January 27th from 8:30am-11:30am. This is a great opportunity to get your leadership volunteer hours.

Hello SWE members,

On Saturday, January 27th, the STEM Center will be hosting the "Lego Block Program" in collaboration with NAWIC and the College of Engineering. There will be about 100 K-5th graders on campus participating in the program.

13 volunteers are needed from 9AM-11AM to act as judges. Please add this event to your calendars for next semester if you are interested.
