Dunamis Connections

Dunamis Connections is working to empower the village of Shigamani by using entrepreneurship as a tool for self-sustainability. We are currently completing a new building that will house a bakery, butchery, restaurant, and grocery store. Our goal is to finish and equip the building by the end of the year. At the same time, we are providing training and guidance to local residents to manage these businesses.

Establishing these businesses will be a significant breakthrough for the village, as none of the existing shops in the area are run by villagers. This is an opportunity to shift the mindset of entitlement and build a scalable project model that can be implemented in 100 other surrounding villages, empowering the entire region and making a lasting impact on future generations.

Henry and Diane just returned from a trip to Brazil, where they ministered at various churches through regular services and special leadership events. Their time in Rio de Janeiro was incredibly impactful, and they also empowered people in the Maceió region. We are grateful for the many lives they’ve touched through their dedicated work.

Ministry Team to South Africa, July 2024: Part 2.

Brazilians, Americans, and South Africanos came together with Dunamis Connections to minister to the people of Shigamani, Muyexe, Dumela, and Mphambo Villages in South Africa. This multicultural team focused on the children and teenagers, preaching the plan of salvation, strengthening their faith in Christ, and spending joyful times playing, building relationships, and having fun with them. In return, they learned valuable lessons of happiness and love from the villagers.

The children’s ministry leaders from all four villages were blessed with teaching materials donated from Brazil. These resources will help them continue teaching the kids. We understand the importance of colorful and engaging materials to hold the children’s attention while teaching the Word of God.

Throughout the week, the team also had the opportunity to work on the building that will house businesses in Shigamani Village. They also enjoyed doing small renovations in the Dunamis Connections house.

At the end of the week, the team took some time to observe the wildlife, relax, and reflect on all the work God accomplished in and through them.

Volleyball Tournament Recap:
We're thrilled to share that our recent Volleyball Tournament was a huge success! The event was organized with the goal of raising funds for the Shigamani Project in South Africa. Here's a brief overview of the event:

🏐 13 teams participated.
⏰ The event kicked off at 7:15 am and lasted until 9:00 pm.
🥤Attendees enjoyed delicious breakfast sandwiches, lunch options, lattes, and smoothies.

South Africa Update:
Today was the first day of work for our construction team. This group will focus on putting the roof on the building that will house the new businesses: a bakery, a butchery, a restaurant, and a grocery store. It is amazing to see the dreams of the Shigamani village come true!
Please pray with us for this group, that they will accomplish what was planned and be a huge blessing to the local people as they spend time together. Also, pray that their lives will be impacted by the love we always receive from our brothers and sisters of Shigamani.

Henry and Diane are in South Africa with their daughter Alyssa, son-in-law Durrell, and three amazing grandkids: Alaina, Lydia, and Justus. Everyone who knows Henry has surely heard him talking about his dreams for Shigamani Village. For the last 12 years, he has dedicated a lot of effort to this project and travels several times a year to empower individuals in South Africa. All of this is possible because of the encouragement from his family, and we are grateful for them! They are his biggest supporters on this journey. For over a year, they have been planning to take the whole family to South Africa together to experience what is happening in Shigamani village. The local church, led by Pastor Gertrude Mathebula, received the Fishers and the Glicks with love and lots of surprises. This trip will surely have an impact not only on the local community but also on the whole family. Keep praying for them as they bless others along their way.

The youth team from Bethesda Christian Fellowship in Pennsylvania joined Dunamis Connections to minister to the people of Shigamani Village in South Africa. They focused on a youth event to reach young people aged 15 to 21 in the village. The event took place at the soccer field and was attended by 125 people. The event participants had a lot of fun with games, food was provided, and prizes were given out, but the most important aspect was the several teaching sessions aimed at empowering them, worship, and the preaching of the Gospel.

Throughout the week, the team also organized an event for the children of the village and engaged in several other activities to serve and empower the local people.

Since this team loves to worship, they had fundraised to be able to bless the local church with a sound system and equipment such as a keyboard, microphones, and speakers. The church couldn't believe it when they received all the gifts. We know that this is an investment in the Kingdom of God, as generations to come will worship Him at this location.

In the end, the team took some time to observe the wildlife, relax, and reflect on all the work God did in and through them.

Construction Team Alert!!!

We still have a few spots available for the April construction team we are sending to South Africa. I know, I know, it's already next month… But imagine the blessing you can be to Shigamani village in the process of making them self-sustainable!

Join us for a once-in-a-lifetime experience as we focus on putting the roof on the building that will house a bakery, restaurant, butchery, and grocery store. Prior experience in construction work is helpful but not necessary to join. Besides the construction work, you will learn about the culture and participate in other activities within the village. You will also have the chance to relax and experience African wildlife.

We currently have a ministry team in South Africa. This youth group is from a church in Pennsylvania and will be hosting a BIG youth event for the young people of Shigamani Village tomorrow. As we approach this event, we recognize the significance of seeking God's guidance and blessings for this specific day. There is power in your prayers to support our efforts as we gather to impact the lives of many.

- Pray for wisdom and discernment for the organizers and volunteers.
- Pray for the Holy Spirit to move mightily throughout the event, touching hearts and transforming lives for God's glory.

This trip was amazing! It was a beautiful journey through the slum areas, churches, and local projects in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Our ministry team was not discouraged by the hot weather and made a huge impact on many lives. We visited several houses, shared the Gospel, prayed over people, encouraged the weak, and brought hope to the hearts. Some of the team members preached at churches and other gatherings. This generous team also brought things to meet the needs of the local projects, such as groceries, soccer cleats, soccer equipment, Bibles, and Bibles for kids, etc. They were a light in the midst of darkness and brought Jesus to places where no one wanted to go.

Henry just returned from an amazing time in Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Mexico. He spent time with Pastor Jonathan García from the church "Gracias y Verdad," training in leadership and preaching at the church. Keep praying for us and supporting us as we empower people to reach their potential around the world.

We are grateful for our construction team currently in Shigamani, South Africa, working on our new building. So much was accomplished in just one week of work! Please keep them in your prayers as they begin another week, aiming to accomplish everything planned.
