Springfield Lions Club donates $500 each to St James and Holy Cross Food Ministry to help those in our community dealing with food scarcity.

On Wednesday May 8, 2019 the Springfield Lion’s Club honored 20 of Johnathan Dayton High School’s top scholars with certificates of appreciation and six Dayton students will receive monetary scholarships to be used for tuition or expenses. The recipients plan to attend elite universities and colleges in New Jersey and nationwide. Students honored include:
Jibran Absarulislam, Rachel Bachman, Jack Conway, Juliana DeSilva, Sheila Flood, Julia Horowitz, Sara Kay, Raquel Mack, Lucy Magid, Sarah Martino-Verridicci, Lisa Mayevsky, Caitlyn McTernan, Brendan O’Brien, Ryan Pagnillo, Jacob Pereira, Sara Rodrick, Raquel Shapiro, Destini Stewart, Tjan Marco, and Alexander Wolz.
The Lions welcome Robert Lax of Eyes of Hope who help raise service dogs for the Seeing Eye in Morristown which provides dogs for the blind at very reasonable cost. Contact us and we will forward his address if you would like to donate to this wonderful cause.

Springfield Lion's hosting the Union County Association for the Blind last night at the Springfield Presbyterian Church. Assisting and caring for the blind is a core mission of Lion's International. Our Springfield Club is proud to play its part.
Springfield Lions Honor Peace Poster Winners from St. James the Apostle School
The Springfield Lions honored the local winners from the Lion’s Peace Poster Contest winners. Yvonne Agyapons, Andrea Falar, Jamie Jules, and Steven Scheiner. The winners were introduced by St. James Art Teacher Traci Burns. The annual Lions Peace Poster is an international contest that sees participants from around the world to promote international peace. The Lions International has 1.4 million members in clubs in over 200 countries around the world. The Springfield Lions meets the second and fourth Wednesdays at the Marco Polo Restaurant in Summit.
Springfield Lions Honor Troop 73 Eagle Scouts
On Wednesday April 11 the Springfield Lions honored our local Eagle Scouts Joshuah Rousso, Michael Zacieracha, Jeremy Quintela and James McElroy all from Troop 73. Dennis Kohl the Executive Director of the Patriot’s Path Council of the Boy Scouts of America was the guest speaker. Mr. Kohl spoke of the BSA’s new outreach to bring girls into scouting and honor of being an eagle scout. The Springfield Lions meets the second and fourth Wednesdays at the Marco Polo Restaurant in Summit.
