Success of HPV vaccination: ‘Dramatic’ reduction in cervical cancer Among young women who received the HPV vaccine when they were 12-13 years old, cervical cancer rates are 87% lower than among previous nonvaccinated generations.
Today, CDC issued an urgent health advisory to increase COVID-19 vaccination among people who are pregnant, recently pregnant, who are trying to become pregnant now, or who might become pregnant in the future to prevent serious illness, deaths, and adverse pregnancy outcomes.
Today's health advisory strongly recommends COVID-19 vaccination either before or during pregnancy because the benefits of vaccination for both pregnant persons and their fetus or infant outweigh known or potential risks.
Additionally, the advisory calls on health departments and clinicians to educate pregnant people on the benefits of vaccination and the safety of recommended vaccines.

Great information!
I thought I would put out short bites of information on things I get asked a lot!
Quick Gyn Note: rash under breasts (or under belly or in the groin)
If the heat and humidity causes a red, itritated and sometimes itchy rash under your breasts, it’s probably intertrigo caused by a inflammation of the skin folds and often exacerbated by a fungal infection.
It is best treated by keeping the skin dry as best as possible. Try using a blow dryer on a cool setting after the shower to get rid of residual moisture. I then recommend Mexsana, a starch powder, to help absorb moisture. Using a fungal cream like clotrimazole 1% (over the counter) can also help.
In severe cases, see your primary care Doc.
Medicated Nystain powder (prescription) can be tried. And/or a topical steroid cream to tame the inflammation. Occ oral antibiotics are needed.
Stay cool in the crazy heat and humidity!
Well, here are some helpful facts!

"Most physicians and parents recognize that the 9-valent (9v)HPV vaccine (Gardasil)prevents the majority of cervical cancers and precancers in women. Far fewer people realize that there is an important opportunity to prevent a large number of oropharyngeal cancers by improving 9vHPV vaccination in men and women."
Since vaccines are on our minds a LOT these days, I thought I would post this article. It's not just a casual read, but if you can--just skim it. In 2020 the Garadsil (HPV) vaccine was approved for the prevention of oral cancers. The most "at risk" group right now is young, white men. And oropharyngeal cancers actually outnumber cervical cancer cases each year--making this a really important public health issue!

Mothers Should Breastfeed, Even If They Have COVID-19, WHO Says
Reuters (8/3, Guarascio) reports, “Mothers should breastfeed their babies even if they have contracted COVID-19, the World Health Organization’s head said on Monday, as the benefits outweigh the risks of infection.” Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus told a news conference, “WHO recommends that mothers with suspected or confirmed COVID-19 should be encouraged the same as all other mothers to initiate or continue breastfeeding.” Tedros also said “the many benefits of breastfeeding for newborn babies and children substantially outweigh the potential risks of COVID-19 infections.”
Interesting research into labor pain and why some women experience much less pain.
Short answer: rare generic variant.
I posted the original research article in the comments.
I am frequently asked about this and there was a huge payout in 2018 by J&J in a lawsuit alleging talc powder caused ovarian cancer. (On July 12, 2018, a St. Louis City jury sent shock waves across the world, awarding 22 plaintiffs $550 million in compensatory damages and $4.14 billion in punitive damages in a lawsuit against Johnson & Johnson over claims its talcum powder products caused ovarian cancer in women who used the company’s products for years.)
Here is some new data.....
Perineal powder use in adult women not associated with ovarian cancer risk (January 2020)
A previous meta-analysis suggested an association between use of perineal talc and ovarian cancer, but results were driven largely by case-control studies, which are subject to recall-bias. A new study pooling data from four prospective cohort studies (n>250,000 women) found no association between use of perineal powder (eg, applied to the underwear or diaphragm contraceptive) and ovarian cancer risk by age 70, although data regarding the type of powder used was not presented [37]. This study supports the conclusion that there is no association between perineal powder use and ovarian cancer. However, it may have been underpowered to detect true but small increases in cancer risk.
