The National African American Read-In is the nation’s first and oldest event dedicated to diversity in literature. It was established in 1990 by the Black Caucus of the National Council of Teachers of English to make literacy a significant part of Black History Month. This initiative has reached more than 6 million participants around the world.
On Friday, February 17th, from 10-2 (March 3rd-Snow Day Alternative)., interested Springfield College students, staff, faculty, and administrators have been invited to share stories with over 100 second-grade students from area Springfield Public Schools. The second graders will engage in small group reading, dance, other art activities, physical activities, and much more. They will also be feed lunch, and each classroom will receive books for their classroom libraries. If you are interested in volunteering please complete the Google Form. If you are selected to serve as a volunteer, additional information about the event will be shared by February 10th. If you have any questions, contact Dr. Stephanie Logan at [email protected].

Hi! Springfield College is hosting an event in the Dodge Room on 9/8, 1:15-2:30pm. SC Alum Phyllis Lerner will share her experiences with the Agahozo-Shalom Youth Village in Rwanda, the approach they use to educate and empower youth centering on health and wellness, and the possibility of fellowships for Springfield College graduates to work for a year in the village.
Agahozo-Shalom Youth Village Agahozo-Shalom Youth Village is a non-profit focused on providing vulnerable and orphaned youth in Rwanda the necessary healing, education, and love to build lives of dignity and contribute to a better world.
