We are happy to share that Pudge has packed his bags and headed north after picking out his new family. In his new home Pudge has a new mom and dad, a sister and brother and 3 fur sisters!!! We want to take this opportunity to thank The Karens who were the first to step up and help Pudge, as well as Canine Companion Rescue Center who ultimately got him on our radar and to his foster mama, Gretchen, who took such great care of him following his surgery. Go be great Pudge, wishing you the happiest life!!!!❤️🐾

Looking for a foster for this sweet girl. She is 4 years old, intact and will also need cherry eye addressed. She was surrendered as she DOES NOT get along with other dogs so we will be looking for a pet free foster home. She is currently in a shelter and very stressed due to dog aggression. If you have an application filled out, are willing to transport her to vet appointments in Romeo/Sterling Heights and are wanting to foster this girl, please message us or comment on this link. We will not be able to bring her into the rescue if we cannot locate an appropriate foster.

PUDGE UPDATE!!!
He’s out of the hospital and recovering in his foster home.
He’s doing really well considering what he’s been through and he’s learning how to get around better as a tripod.
We are accepting applications for him and will be screening while he heals.

Pudge update!
This sweet boy had his leg amputated and was neutered Thursday. He’s still in the hospital recovering but doing well.
This was not a cheap procedure so any help with his bill is greatly appreciated!!

Happy Independence Day!
We hope everyone has a fun and safe holiday.
Please keep your dogs inside and cool and just short breaks outside in a confined space or ON leash.
Even if your dog hasn’t been scared of fireworks in the past, it could start at any time and spook them, prompting them to run off. Better be safe than sorry!!

TEAM PUDGE
We need a foster or foster to adopt home for this special boy. He was found in a junk yard badly injured and unfortunately his leg can not be saved, so it will be amputated. He's sweet, playful, good with dogs and cats.
He's currently in boarding, but we need to get him into foster asap so he can get his surgery and start recovering!
Please help us help him!!!

Our Story
Detroit Bulldog Rescue (DBR) is a not-for-profit team of volunteers that takes in English Bulldogs who are surrendered by their owners, picked up from shelters or are strays from across Michigan, Ohio, Ontario and Kentucky.
We have been saving bullies for close to 25 years. In that time we have rehabilitated and found loving homes for hundreds of bulldogs.
Once a bulldog comes in to DBR all medical issues are addressed. All dogs are heartworm tested, spayed or neutered, and brought up to date on vaccinations. Every dog lives in the home of their volunteer foster family.
During their stay in their foster homes we get to know their personalities, temperaments and figure out what their ideal new home would be like (low/high energy, kids, other pets, etc). Once we feel they are ready, the dogs are then placed in their matched “forever” home.
We only take in pure bred Bulldogs (aka English Bulldogs). The dogs that come into DBR are typically 4-5 years of age, many are older. We generally do not get puppies.
We are able to rescue these precious bulldogs solely thanks to the hard work and dedication of our volunteers, and through the generous donations of our supporters.
100% of all donations and adoption fees go toward vet bills.
The Detroit Bulldog Rescue is affiliated with the Bulldog Club of America Rescue Network (BCARN).
To apply to adopt a rescue bulldog, complete an application at www.rescuebulldogs.org
ADOPTION PROCESS:
*Your application will be reviewed
*We will call you for a telephone interview
*A vet reference check will be done
*Home check performed
*Potential dog identified
*You will receive an invitation to meet the dog we feel would be a good match for you
This process can be quick or can take several months – please be patient. Remember that every step is dependent upon our volunteers.
Adoptions are NOT first come first served; rather, we match the dog with the person/family we feel will be the best fit.
Everything we do is based on what is best for the dogs in our care. We do everything to ensure they will have the best life, for the rest of their lives.
