On April 20 from 11 am - 2 pm at Selvidge Middle School in Ballwin, stop by and become a potential donor today! Most patients who need a bone marrow transplant do not have a familial match - they rely on marrow registries to find a match! Become a potential match today to help save lives of all ages - like Olivia.

Can't attend the event? Scan the QR code below to become a match from the comfort of your own home. Registration takes about 10 minutes and all you'll need to do is a cheek swab then and send it back.

It's not only Leap Day... it's Rare Disease Day! Next week, come out and support a great cause and Skate Under the Stars! All are welcome to come out and support. Funds raised will help cover exome sequencing (extensive DNA testing) for patients who are undergoing diagnostic testing to better understand their disease, and help them be as healthy as possible! 🙂

Yesterday, we had some very special visitors here at Baer! Emma, Paige, Jack, Noah, and their dad came by to visit their life-long pediatricians. These guys have been our patients since birth, and both Dr. Baer (a very special day when she comes by the office!) and Dr. Mennemeier had a great time catching up with them and hearing about all of their many accomplishments. We love watching our patients and families grow up -- this is why we do this job! 🥰 Thanks for visiting, guys!

Hello all! Quick text messaging update for you all:

We have recently started a secure text messaging system to use for patient communication, called Klara! The number is (314)-970-4821. If you receive a text message from this number, and it takes you to a second page to enroll - it is NOT spam! Once you're all set up in the system, you can text us just like you text your friends.

We have been using this system to remind our patients about their appointments, and as a way for patients to contact us with questions. Our staff checks these texts throughout the day and can respond quickly to your questions without you waiting on hold or for a call back.

You are of course still welcome to contact us via phone or email as before if that works better for you.

This past weekend, the crew from Baer Pediatrics had a little winter celebration! It was great getting to actually spend some time together outside of the office! ☺️

Snow day update!
We are available today by phone during our normal hours. For your safety and ours, we have closed our office for visits until this afternoon. We will have a limited amount of in-office sick visits available this afternoon, starting at 12:20. Stay safe out there!

Holiday Hours Update!
We will be operating our clinic with relatively normal hours this holiday season to help keep our kids healthy. One change from normal is we will not be having Saturday morning hours on 12/24 or 12/31. But, we will be open as normal M-F for the rest of the year!

⚠️Covid-19 booster update for kids under 5⚠️

We have an important update to share on our supply of Covid-19 vaccines for our youngest patients.

PFIZER: Kids 6 months - 4 years of age who are receiving Pfizer vaccines will now receive a bivalent vaccine (which includes more variants than the original vaccine) for the third shot of their 3 dose primary series. If you've already gotten three doses, and are still under 4 years old, no additional doses are currently recommended. If you're 5 and over, and have received the initial 3 shot series at least two months ago, then you can now schedule a bivalent booster shot.

MODERNA: Kids 6 months - 5 years of age now have a bivalent booster option after completing the 2 dose primary series. So, this will be a third shot as a booster.

Dropping in to let our patients know that we have some new technology to help diagnose our patients at Baer Pediatrics! We now have a viral PCR test that tests for Flu A, Flu B, RSV, and Covid-19 all with just one nasal swab. With all of these viruses still going around this holiday season, it's nice to get everything at once, and with a super accurate test!😊 we also got a new strep test, which is also more accurate than the last.

If your child is sick and you're worried about any of the above viruses, we've got you covered here at Baer with up to date technology!

Flu season is in full swing, worse and earlier in the year than we've ever seen it before!! The graph below is from St. Louis Children's Hospital on the amount of flu over the last few years. Blue and red lines are pre-Covid numbers. Purple was 2020-21, when we saw no flu at all due to Covid precautions. Green is last year. Yellow....yellow is now. With no sign of slowing down :(

So, for our Baer Pediatrics patients and their families, we wanted to remind everyone to wash your hands a lot, try to avoid large crowds in small spaces, stay home if you're sick, drink lots of water, and come see us if you need us. AND if you haven't gotten your flu shot yet, it's not too late!! Come get yourself some protection from this nasty virus. We have seen it decrease severity of symptoms in some of our patients, even if it doesn't stop it entirely.

We are heartbroken today to hear of another tragedy affecting children, this time at a school in our own community. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of the students, staff, family, and first responders involved. These devastating events can impact our entire community, and can lead to difficult conversations with kids. You can be a virus for Halloween this year, but we don't want you to get a virus for Halloween this year!!

Our Pfizer Bivalent vaccines for kids ages 5-11 are here (in addition to the 12+ we already had)! Call 314-569-2112 to schedule your appointment for your Bivalent booster today!

This vaccine is recommended for kids 2 months after initial Covid-19 vaccine series, 2 months since last booster, or 2 months since last Covid-19 infection.

Blast off for Boosters!!! We now have the new Pfizer bivalent Covid-19 booster vaccines at the office. These are for kids 12 and over who need a booster shot. Boosters can be given once it has been two or more months since last Covid vaccine or Covid illness. Children under 12 will still receive the monovalent boosters that we still have. On October 1 and October 15, we will be offering Covid Boosters along with flu shots during our Saturday shot clinics from 8-12.
