We are searching for a friendly, positive, and dynamic person to join our team and be a part of compassionately caring for the individual needs of each of our patients. We are in need of a phone nurse Mondays and Wednesdays 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM and Fridays 8:00 AM - 1:00 PM.

Job Title: Phone Nurse

General Job Description: Provides nursing triage services and health advice for patients over the phone based on established protocols. Evaluates, assesses, and documents patients’ questions or concerns. Responsible for giving physician referrals as needed. Requires excellent organizational, communication, collaboration, professional, and clinical skills while maintaining a compassionate demeanor and teamwork. Ability to handle protected health information in a confidential manner is required.

Job Duties:

Answers patient (parent) phone calls and provide medical advice based upon protocols.
Triages and consults with physicians on treatments.
Meticulously documents all conversations with and advice given to patients (parents).
Follows up with patient labs, test results, ER visits, and progress reports.
Communicates effectively with clinical, clerical, and billing departments, providers, patients, and families to ensure the continuity of care.
Schedules imaging/specialist visits and forwards patient history to specialist.
Transfers patients’ records to other medical offices as requested.
Handles all physician referrals and closes the loop from requisition to results.
Fills out all requested patient forms and forwards to daycare, school, FMLA, etc.
Submits any needed prior authorization/pre-certifications with the patient's insurance.
Maintains strictest confidentiality; adheres to all HIPAA privacy regulations and guidelines regarding confidentiality of protected health information.
Ear piercings.
Any other assigned duties.
Job Education: An active, unencumbered RN license authorized to practice in the state of Missouri. CPR certified.

Qualifications:

Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the pediatric field.
Previous experience in a pediatric office, nursing, or other medical fields.
Ability to build rapport with patients over the phone - patient care is 100% over the phone communicating with patients’ parents.
Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.
Familiarity with medical software and equipment.
Previous computer experience helpful.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Possesses creativity, latitude, and empathy.
