Here's to another fifty years of magic at the Celebration Barn.
The Barn is thrilled to announce that legendary clowns Bill Irwin and Avner Eisenberg will be headlining our 50th Anniversary Spectacular on Saturday July 30!
Tickets, which are $50 and support Celebration Barn, are available to purchase here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/330956569007
"Irwin and Eisenberg are two of the brightest stars in the firmament of clowning," writes David Bruin, the Barn's executive artistic director. "For decades, their stellar performances on stages, screens, and street corners have amazed audiences worldwide. As paragons of artistry, consummate professionals, and world-class teachers, it is an honor to showcase them both as we celebrate five decades of Celebration Barn!"
Other amazing artists featured as part of the Spectacular include Hilary Chaplain Fritz Grobe, Amanda Huotari, Sheila Kerrigan, Bernie Kramer, Khalil LeSaldo, Michael R. Miclon, Dyer Rhoads, Antonio Rocha, Lou Sydel, Thom Wall, and members of the original Celebration Mime Ensemble.
In addition, the Spectacular will feature the presentation of two awards. The inaugural Tony Montanaro Award will be presented to the Encompass Collective for their contributions to artistry and community at Celebration Barn, and the inaugural Community Partner Award will be given to Frank and Cheryl Shaskan for their longtime support and dedication to the life of the Barn.
We hope to see you there!
Performing at the beautiful Opera House Arts at the Stonington Opera House tonight!
What a treat to work in such a stunning venue on the coast of Maine.
I had a lovely time at Jesup Memorial Library in Bar Harbor, Maine this weekend! What a treat, sharing oldschool juggling and weird stories with the community.
(Sounds like I wasn't the only one... Don't believe me? Hear what Abby, the library's youth director had to say!)
"Thom Wall is an amazing performer who has the rare ability to connect with a multi-generational audience. He drew in a large crowd to our library event with ages ranging from babies to grandparents. Everyone was captivated by Thom's tricks and he had the audience laughing the entire time. From a planning perspective, he was very responsive and flexible, going out of his way to ensure it was a good experience for all involved. The performance created a sense of community that has been sorely missed during the pandemic and we hope to host Thom again soon!"
This February, Benjamin Domask-Ruh and I put a show up some 200 times at Busch Gardens Williamsburg.
(Suffice to say, spending 100 hours on stage after a year of quarantine was... a lot! More on that in a future blog post...)
