Join us for a celebration of “The Legacy of Mill Creek,” a new artwork by Cbabi Bayoc to honor the former Mill Creek Valley community. The event takes place on Tuesday, September 10 at 4:00 pm at the Saint Louis University Fountain at the intersection of Grand and Lindell Blvds.

Enjoy music by Kendrick Smith Quartet and remarks at 4:30 p.m. by Artist Cbabi Bayoc and special guests. Light refreshments will be served.

Co-Sponsored by Saint Louis University Departments of Visual and Performing Arts and African American Studies and the Division of Mission and Identity.

The Grant to fund the artwork by Cbabi was inspired by the Mill Creek Valley Commemoration Committee, submitted by the Saint Louis Arts Chamber of Commerce, and funded by the Regional Arts Commission of St. Louis.

Artisans in the Loop welcomes Arleana Holtzmann to our resident artists.

Arleana Holtzmann is a St. Louis based artist who mixes her love of art with causes she is passionate about. She has had many paintings auctioned to raise money for charity, including the National Children’s Cancer Society, was the Artist in Residence for the World Bird Sanctuary for two years. She has also worked with Stray Rescue, Maushaus, and the Endangered Wolf Center.

Her art is a continuous pursuit of creative ideas, evolving perspectives, and pushing beyond her comfort zone. She tests new creative techniques, mediums, and styles to better understand art as a form of communication. Arleana seeks to foster a connection between the creator, viewer, and essence of the artwork.
