Proud to showcase one of our past commercial projects, part of St. Louis' Central Corridor renaissance! The blue building, home to the St. Louis Public Schools Retirement System offices, was one of the first new construction buildings in the neighborhood since the 1970s. Located in the heart of Grand Center, St. Louis' thriving arts, entertainment, and media hub, it stands as a symbol of the area's ongoing growth and transformation.

🔧 🧱 Builders are wrapping up construction on the Foster Funeral Home on Martin Luther King Drive. What you see here is an example of single-wythe masonry, which offers several benefits over traditional CMU blocks, including:

-less thermal bridging
-more efficient use of materials
-pre-insulated units that achieve thermal performance 4-5 times greater than conventional masonry

Creative Office/Studio Space for Lease

Available in beautifully restored historic millwork factory building in Benton Park. Building boasts 9-foot ceilings, exposed brick walls, and hardwood floors adding character and a sense of history. With great natural light streaming in the large windows, the space is inviting and energizing.

Situated on a safe and quiet street in the historic Benton Park neighborhood offering convenience and a charming setting. Walking distance to Benton Park Café, Frazer’s, Gus’ Pretzels, Café Piazza, and Venice Café is a definite perk!

The available first floor space is 1007 square feet. This generous space provides flexibility for various uses. Tenants can enjoy a shared kitchen area, complete with a fridge and break space. Building has private parking lot and free street parking.

As a tenant, you will be responsible for gas and electric expenses based on percentage of square footage of leased space. If needed, there is an option to access WIFI services within the building for a flat monthly fee.

A Tale of Two Houses Part Two

After passing ownership of the family homestead onto their daughter, our clients bought a 2500 sq ft ranch.

They have completely reimagined it!

They have added a new fireplace, vaulted ceilings, and a new kitchen with a large window wall for a sweeping view of the yard.

They are also renovating the bedroom wing of the home to include a new bathroom and laundry.

As for the exterior, they are adding a gabled front porch, as well as a porch in the back, and painting the brick.

We're thrilled to be working with our clients that have passed the torch (and the keys) to their daughter as she embarks on her homeownership journey of the family homestead of 30+ years. But this isn't just any handover – they bought a home which was the perfect fit for their downsizing goal right around the corner. We're rolling up our sleeves together, and turning each house into their dream home. Here's to building futures and preserving the past, one renovation project at a time!

Annie and I visited the demolition site of St. Augustine Church in Hyde Park in North St. Louis yesterday. This building has been in the news this week because it experienced its third devastating fire recently, and the decision was made to bring it down for safety reasons.

It’s truly sad to see this once proud building, dedicated in 1896, no doubt the center of a thriving German Catholic parish, see its final Easter Sunday today after 128 years.

Killeen Studio Architects was happy to sponsor the social hour for Leadership Belleville's Government Day for the class of 2023/2024. It was so great to see all of the members stay and hang out after a fun-filled day of mock council meetings, tours, mini-retreat, and talks from local government representatives, including Mayor Gregory and the head of Public Works, Jason Poole. Thanks for letting us be a part of your day!

Now that we're back home at our new refurbished offices on Salena Street we're putting our new conference room dubbed the "Little House on the Prairie" to use. Here we are prepping for a client meeting about a new project.

Renovation of a mid-century ranch in Des Peres coming along quickly. Excited to see the new entry canopy, vaulted ceilings, and covered patio take shape.

I was able to take Mikey and a friend to the City Museum over the holiday break. We are so fortunate to have this institution in our community. I get inspired by Cassilly's genius and the historical collection everytime we visit. Oh, and Mickey loves all the climbing 😉

Huge day at Killeen Studio today. After a full year out of the office following our Thanksgiving fire last year, we’re moving back in today! Got a beautiful day for it! So good to see four moving trucks out in front of the building instead of four fire department pumper trucks! It’s good to be home!

Progress being made on the Higby residence! The new KSA designed home in Benton Park is progressing. This will have a traditional look from the street with an open plan and contemporary look at the backyard.

Another big milestone at the Salena office! Ground zero of the fire was at these two windows. The glazers finally took down the board that was up from the fire.

Enjoy those last moments of summer before it gets cold! A couple weeks ago KSA was proud to help sponsor the Benton Park concert series again. This was their Grateful Dead show featuring Alligator Wine. There were also a bunch of old VW buses on display. Thanks to Brittany for another great season!

And then they hosted a race team! When the Gateway Cup came roaring through St. Louis on Labor Day weekend, Anne and Mike happily hosted a team at their house. Always an exciting weekend!

Anne and Mike got inspired by a family trip to Baltimore a few weeks back. They stayed in Fells Point, ate Bertha's mussels, and visited some really cool architectural salvage places.

On Wednesday Nick and Mike attended the ground breaking for the new Foster Funeral Home in the Ville. We are so excited for Ms. Foster and all of the wonderful people at Foster on this big occasion!

Some progress pics from our rebuild following the fire. The conference room is looking like something from Little House on the Prairie with the salvaged siding from an old farmhouse in Illinois.

Parking lot is installed. Demo is nearing completion. New walls are going up, and fixtures and finishes are being ordered. Revitalizing the building with 21st century amenities, all while maintaining its historic character.
