Just a few weeks away! the St. Louis Community College and Center for Plant and Life Sciences is holding an Open House student event on Thursday, October 27th from 4-8pm. Geared to high schoolers and anyone with a mind for science, this event will allow students to take a glimpse inside the Center for Plant and Life Science labs and to experience some hands-on activities to pique your interest in a career in Biotechnology, Life Sciences and Horticulture.

Enrollment and scholarship assistance will be available - come alone, bring a parent or friend – we welcome you to experience it all! To register for this event, please use the QR code to let us know to expect you.

St. Louis Community College’s Center for Plant and Life Science is hosting a Bio-Bench Teacher Workshop this summer! This FREE biotechnology workshop is funded by the Bayer Fund. Please join us as we spend a week training teachers on science techniques and activities that they can implement into their classrooms in the near future. If teachers complete all training days and fulfill all requirements, they will receive a $500 stipend, $500 classroom supplies/equipment, Bio-Bench curriculum binder, option of 3 graduate workshop credits, and lunch Monday- Thursday. In the bacterial transformation lab, the pGLO plasmid is used to transform bacteria (E. coli) to express green flourescent protein (GFP) from the bioluminescent jellyfish, Aequorea Victoria, which causes the bacteria to glow under UV light.
