STANFORD CONCERT NETWORK presents
Blvck Hippie x Jackie Hayes ⭐️💥

THURSDAY FEB 9th @ 550 / 8:30PM
featuring student opener BITCH CUP🥤

Blvck Hippie is an Indie Rock Band from Memphis, TN tryna show Black kids they can be weird too. By melding an emo sensibility with an indie rock aesthetic, Blvck Hippie creates tunes for getting unstuck, existing weirdly, and finding togetherness. If you like The Strokes, Car Seat Headrest, Bright Eyes, or Blood Orange, you'll love Blvck Hippie!

Jackie Hayes’ tracks are short and compact, brief gut punches steadied by inherent rhythm. Outwardly simple, the melody often seems to collapse inward, with repetition and intonation that sounds like one long vicious cycle. Singles like “Bite Me” and “Wish It Was” sound like internalized monologues that blur the lines of pop and rock, where Hayes’ vocals sit vulnerably bare.

see you at 550 next THURSDAY! 😎

SCN presents AMINDI👁️🌴🍄🪐🌈

NEXT THURSDAY, JAN 19th @ 576 ALVARADO, 8PM

amindi has been defying genres and carving out her own lane since the SoundCloud days of 2013, when all she had was a ukulele and GarageBand 🎸🥁. Now, having opened for Saba’s Back Home Tour and featured on Isaiah Rashad’s 2021 album The House Is Burning, this Inglewood-bred artist has made her mark exploring themes of self love, resilience, and fleeting emotions💞✨

Fusing elements of hip-hop, R&B, and dancehall from her upbringing to Jamaican immigrants, amindi’s work is an expression of her “inner monologue,” — a reflection of her deepest fears, ambitions, and meditations that she only hopes you will begin to feel through her music 🎶💫🌕

COME OUT @ 576 Alvarado on Thursday, Jan 19th, at 8:00 PM.

Frost wants your art!

Have an idea for a creative installation? Want your work to be funded by SCN? Want to showcase your art in an exceptionally unique exhibition space? Apply to be an artist for this year’s Frost Fest, taking place Saturday, May 20th, 2023!

Stanford Concert Network's Frost Music and Arts Festival is an annual celebration of the musical and visual arts at Stanford. Each year, the Frost Art committee curates student installations around a chosen theme. The selected works are commissioned with the support of a grant from the Vice President for the Arts and displayed at Frost Amphitheater on the day of the festival.

This year, the Frost Arts team is seeking proposals for new artworks by current Stanford students, undergraduate or graduate. We are looking primarily for large scale sculpture or mixed media installations to showcase in the Frost Grove, in accordance with our curatorial theme: Sacred Spaces.

Our application is now live! Check out the Google Form linked in our bio to read more about our theme and start planning a proposal. Applications are due Friday, February 10th at midnight.

SCN presents ISABELLA LOVESTORY 🦋🌈💿👾💚

NEXT WEDNESDAY, NOV 16, @ KAIROS, 8:30 PM 🩸🍒🧨

Coming to Stanford all the way from Honduras 🇭🇳, pop reggaeton artist Isabella Lovestory wants you to feel the way she felt at 13 - unrestrained, full of desire - euphorically dancing to a distorted reggaeton riddim booming on the radio. Come out to Kairos next Wednesday for a night of hyperpop and reggaeton 🪩😈

Isabella aims to encapsulate much of reggaeton’s initial experimental impulses by utilizing similar harsh drums, and singsong melodies, while reimagining them with honest but playful lyrics. 🧸 Raunchy and free in production and delivery, Isabella loves extremes. Her songs are stories of love, s*x, life and the rage, ecstasy and humor in it all. As she once said - “expressing sins is healing." 🔮🩻

DANCE WITH US @ Kairos on Wednesday, Nov 16, at 8:30 PM 🕺

and now… out frost fest headliner AMINÉ! 😵‍💫 don’t miss ’s set this SATURDAY May 21 at ! tickets in bio!

At the age of 21, Adam Aminé Daniel burst onto the scene with his now 6x platinum single, "Caroline." But, the Portland-born rapper has come a long way since then. "Good For You" drew praise on arrival with writeups in XXL, The New York Times, Complex, and more. And "Limbo," released in 2020, debuted in the Top 10 of the Billboard Top Hip Hop Albums chart with features from Young Thug, Summer Walker, Vince Staples, and more.

Between explosive sets at Coachella and Lollapalooza, plus a show-stopping performance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Aminé has solidified himself as a force of nature. Making his acting debut on HBO's "Insecure," he's proven that his talents go beyond the studio and the stage to a whole new medium of entertainment. Coming off of a 2021 Grammy nomination for Disclosure collaboration, "My High", Aminé has more extensive plans to revisit the world of dance/hip-hop crossover records.

Victoria Monét is a multitalented artist and performer from Sacramento, CA. In February 2020, she was selected to be Apple Music's Up Next artist. Today, Monét is responsible for some of the biggest hits in contemporary pop, hip-hop and R&B for top 40 and critical darlings alike, from Brandy, Nas, Chloe × Halle to Lucky Daye, BLACKPINK and Selena Gomez. She earned 4 GRAMMY nominations for her vocal production and songwriting on Ariana Grande's thank u next album, including #1 hits "thank u next" and "7 rings," and one recently for Chloe x Halle's breakthrough single "Do It". She became a mother to a beautiful baby girl named Hazel in February 2021. Her unique and truthful perspective showcases her duality: a feeling of nostalgia blended with modern sensibility.

FROST FEST WEEK IS HERE 🤸 to kick us off, we’re introducing frost artist ! be sure to head to our bio for tickets to see Tkay this Saturday May 21 at this year’s Frost Fest!

Nothing is holding Tkay Maidza ('tee-kay my-dzuh') back, and on her whiplash-inducing new trilogy-capping EP Last Year Was Weird, Vol. 3, the Australian-Zimbabwean singer-rapper doubles down on her intent to exhilarate.

Maidza grew up with music as a core family value, informed by the teachings of her uncle, late Zimbabwean singer and cult figure Andy Brown. “He was the equivalent of Bob Marley in Zimbabwe — very political, and an inspirational figure for the youth,” she says. “My dad would tour with his band, and with my uncles, so every weekend I would be around their music, and that’s where my passions grew.”

With her gold-certified single “M.O.B” and subsequent debut album, Tkay established herself as one of the most exciting voices in international dance-pop and as an artist of global importance with cover across the globe from NME to Galore to 10 and more. This fall saw SOLD OUT NYC, LA and LONDON headlining performances from Tkay - as well as performances with Charli XCX, Ashnikko, and Billie Eilish.

In anticipation of Frost Fest, let’s take a look at the history of this spring quarter tradition! Frost Music Festival was started by Stanford Concert Network in 2012, and over the years, headliners have included acts such as Glass Animals, Kali Uchis, Phoebe Bridgers and Zedd. Student involvement is a major part of Frost, with an annual Battle of the Bands competition to choose the opening act. Student visual art installations are also included. The popularity of Frost Fest led to the revitalization of Frost Amphitheater as a venue, prompting a full renovation that was completed in 2019. Frost Fest is near and dear to our community, and we hope you join us for the fun! 🤪

SEE YOU AT FROST MAY 21!!!!
