We recently talked with the dedicated male staff at Parents by Choice to dive into some important questions about men's mental health. Here's what we asked:
How do you view mental health in general?
Do you think it's something that gets enough attention in society?
How do you think societal expectations around masculinity affect men's mental health?
What changes do you think you could make to improve your mental health?
Have you ever considered talking to a mental health professional? Why or why not?
Their insights were both eye-opening and inspiring, shedding light on the often overlooked aspects of men's mental well-being.
๐จโ๐งโ๐ฆ Join the conversation and share your thoughts on these questions! Let's work together to break the stigma and promote a healthier, more supportive society for everyone.
Positive Parenting Program Client Testimonial Spotlight
"I was really skeptical of what I would learn. I didnโt think that it would help me as much as it did. The other parents helped add real world perspective and guide me to trusting the class and methods. Plus, once we were 3-4 sessions deep, I had found what I needed to change, that was an eye opener."

Men's mental health often flies under the radar, but the numbers paint a sMen's mental health often flies under the radar, but the numbers paint a s picture:
๐น 29% of men are misdiagnosed due to neglecting their mental health, with their emotions often manifesting as anger.
๐น Over 6 million men suffer from depression in the U.S. alone.
๐น Every 13.7 minutes, a man in the U.S. loses the battle in his head โ that's 105 men a day. ๐
These stats are a wake-up call. It's time to talk openly about men's mental health and break the stigma. Remember, seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness.

Thank you San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office for sharing! We love our community and being able to provide hope and healing to families.
Congratulations to these Inmates, who graduated on June 4, 2024, from the Positive Parenting Program provided by Parents by Choice. The Program aims to prevent problems in the family, school, and community before they arise.
The tools learned in this Program have the power to create family environments that encourage children to realize their potential and equip parents with the skills and confidence to be self-sufficient and manage family issues without ongoing support. This is a testament to the transformative power of the Positive Parenting Program.
This Program is not just a class but a significant step towards a brighter future for our inmates. It equips them with the necessary skills and knowledge to better themselves upon release and play a more positive role in our community.
June is Men's Mental Health Awareness Month!
Men's mental health is often overlooked, but it's crucial we shine a light on it.
Mental health challenges don't discriminate, and men face unique pressures and stigmas that can make it hard to seek help. This month, let's break the silence and start the conversation.
Here are a few ways you can support men's mental health:
Listen - Sometimes, just being there and listening can make all the difference.
Encourage - Encourage the men in your life to speak about their feelings without fear of judgment.
Check-In - Regularly check in with friends, family, and colleagues. A simple "How are you really doing?" can go a long way.
Educate - Learn about the signs of mental health issues and share resources.
Normalize - Help normalize seeking therapy and mental health support.
Remember, it's okay not to be okay. Together, we can create a supportive environment where everyone feels comfortable seeking help.
