This symphony of artistry runs from October 28 to December 1 at the Suffolk Art Gallery! Meet the Maestro of Judging, our esteemed juror, Matt Lively. Lively has a BFA in Sculpture from VCU and has graced the world stage with his solo, juried, and group exhibitions.

Our First Place winner will have the incredible opportunity to host a one-person show at the Suffolk Art Gallery in 2024.

I know we're still buying Halloween candy, and beginning to think about eating turkey, but it's not too early to think about creating keepsake Christmas decorations with our children. We are happy to bring back this clay making workshop with Linda Bunch. We will fire your child's nativity scene, and it will be ready for you to pick up just in time by the beginning of December. Registration is open!

We are excited to announce our next Homeschool Art Session curriculum for this fall! We're warming up our time machine and gearing up for our trip back in time to study Art Through the Ages! Each class will focus on a particular period of time in Art History, and children will create pieces inspired by that era, from Ancient Greece to the present day! We had a Marvelous Macrame Workshop at the North Suffolk Library last night! Thank you Anita Holland, the Master of Macrame, for sharing this fun, and somewhat challenging fine craft with us! We can't wait to have Anita back with us in our classroom after the new year. Stay tuned for another Knotty Class. ☺️

The Chesapeake Bay Watercolorist group has been painting together since 1980 and are currently being featured at the Suffolk Art Gallery now until October 20! Admission to the Suffolk Art Gallery is FREE and the gallery is open to the public Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays from 1 to 5 p.m.

We are considering adding a Drop-in life drawing class offered once a month at the Suffolk Art Gallery. It would be a pay-as-you-go for each session, consisting of 2 hours of figure drawing with a live model. It will be an "instruction-free" drawing class, where there is no lesson taught, and you will bring your own supplies. We are providing the model, space, and easels if needed.
Is this something people in the area are interested in?
There will be a fee for each session, and the model will be clothed. Looking into offering it on Tuesdays, 12-2pm. Open to alternate day/time.

Sharing this exhibit opportunity for Veterans.

The Yorktown Arts Foundation is hosting the Fifth Annual Veterans Art Show at the On the Hill Gallery. This show offers the opportunity for active duty and to those who have served to showcase their art at the On the Hill Gallery, Yorktown, VA. Categories are two- and three-dimensional art and photography. The gallery is allowing two submissions per person, regardless of the category. There is no entry fee and the exhibit is free and open to the public. Participants do not need to be members of the gallery or foundation to participate. The show will open on November 7th, with a reception open to the public on November 11th from 4-6pm. Awards for first, second, third and honorable mention winners in each category will be announced at the reception. Drop-off dates are November 4th and 5th at the gallery, 402 Main Street, Yorktown.
