Original watercolor and acrylic artwork. Come take a journey through the eye and paintbrush of artist Kenny King.
From the historical reaches of the Outer Banks, where trade winds off the Atlantic recreate the shoreline, to tranquil and rhythmic sounds of the Chesapeake Bay on the Eastern Shore and down back roads that showcase many Southern landscapes in rural Virginia and North Carolina. Walk along the breakers after seasonal storms have unveiled beach treasures such as old wrecks and ancient maritime woodl
ands. Visit century old beach cottages with vista views of the famed sand hills of Jockey's Ridge. Witness the gallant fight the lighthouses have withstood over the century standing tall in victory to man's ability of desire, design and construction on such a fragile environment. Gaze at the majestic monuments who stand tall in their beauty and simplicity setting forth their beacon light through the breakers and beyond. View the seasonal migration of a variety of wildlife. Listen, you can almost hear the call of the snow geese heading South over the islands of Hatteras and Ocracoke using the shoreline as their compass. Search the blue waters of the Chesapeake for migrating whales singing to their mates. Witness natures beauty in Floral and Fauna as if they have been etched from colored glass, flowers of all type are displayed throughout the artist's pallet. ABOUT THE ARTIST...
Born and raised in the rural south, the artist spent his summers and falls observing his surroundings. Whether it was sketching animals on his Grandfather's farm or watching sunsets and crashing waves on the Outer Banks, his "eye" for detail began at an early age. Beach scene, rustic landscapes, fishing boats and villages along with wildlife and flowers are subjects most often created by the artist. The media of watercolors have dominated his pallet since he began painting professionally in the early Eighties however the artist has broaden his pallet to include acrylics and mixed media. The artist's "style" has been described as "realistic visions" and has been compared to the works of national known artist Herb Jones and local artist Robert Burnell and Robert Clontz. With no formal training, the artist's style and ability has transformed over the years. With the passage of time and constant change in our environment, the artist states it best by describing his desire to paint by saying, "I'm sure there will come a time when many of the scenes I create will forever be gone from our landscape and memories. With this thought in mind I try to capture not only the look and feel but also the mood of its presence for others to enjoy". The artist's original works are in fourteen states as well as Europe and Asia. He has been selected to judge many regional art shows and taught watercolor classes in local museums for over twenty years. He currently teaches classes in his private studio in Suffolk, VA. The artist has held memberships in the Virginia Watercolors Society, the Suffolk Art League, Ducks Unlimited, the Blackwater Art League and the Rawls Art Society. SHOWS, GALLERIES and AWARDS...
