From SENATOR DEB FISCHER'S LEGISLATIVE UPDATE:

In 2019, the Trump administration established the "Protect Life Rule" under the Title X program to prohibit taxpayer dollars from going to organizations that provide or refer clients for abortions.

I support this policy.

Soon after the rule was established, abortion providers such as Planned Parenthood left the Title X program allowing more funds to go to organizations that provide actual family planning services, research, and training.

However, recently the Biden administration has proposed to undo the "Protect Life Rule," which would again allow organizations that provide abortions to receive taxpayer funds.

The Biden administration is currently accepting comments on this rule. I have joined a group of senators in urging U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra to withdraw this proposal. None of Americans' hard-earned dollars should be funding the abortion industry.

The proposed rule:

Financially rewards Planned Parenthood and the abortion industry.
Eliminates the requirements for physical and financial separation, allowing Title X funds to support abortion as a method of family planning, which is against the law.
Weakens sexual abuse reporting and screening requirements
Defending the lives of the unborn has always been a priority for me, and as a United States senator, I will continue advocating for pro-woman and pro-life policies.

Sending this letter to protect the Title X program is a necessary step to stand up for life.
