But, on behalf of Wacheva's organization I would like to thank CNY Arts organization for giving us the opportunity to meet for four weeks through this program.

Because there are the benefits of culture and arts.

Yes, there are always positive effects of art on human health.

Even learning about other cultures promotes respect and tolerance.
Yes, culture promotes the development of physical abilities in individuals and can even lead to group cohesion. Especially cohesion.

Yes, Music reduces stress and stimulates cognitive functions, while playing an instrument strengthens connections.

Yes, Singing improves attention, memory and some executive functions.

And of course, Dancing develops motor skills and allows you to work on balance, mobility, rhythm, memory and attention.

We wish or hope in the future to have another chance like this where the community would come together.

Especially and especially when it is FREE for the community.
Because sometimes the cost or means prevent others from participating in community activities.
This project was made possible through CNY ARTS 2024 Reconsideration grant funding.

Nothing is SWEET when the community comes together.

It was really fun last Saturday.

And the observation we made last Saturday, from the second week of the four-week FREE outdoor classes, is that we can stay under these nice trees with their branches providing shade. Instead of staying outdoors when it is really hot & hot.

Come try this is what we want. Come and try. Do not be afraid.

You can also bring a chair and sit and watch as well. It's for the community. But don't forget to bring your water bottle, okay?

Wacheva will begin Four-Week summer African dance/drum program with YMCA students from this Monday, July 8 to August 9, 2024.

Full schedule: July 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 29, 30, 31.
August: 1, 2, 5, 6, 7, 8, & 9.

We will be working with 200 plus students. There will be different disciplines as well not only African dance/drum discipline.
It will be Fun and really Fun. Awesome!

And remember, our FREE Four-Week outdoor class at Thornden Park starts this Saturday.

Wacheva organized the same FREE community classes last year 2023 with CNY ARTS funding.

Come try playing these drums called DUN-DUN drums. We play with the sticks while standing because you will do some dance steps through the rhythm that you will do.

{Here is an excerpt of 2 dances called Tchey-vah and Djessifla dances videos.}
But we will add some new steps. And there are also other dances that we will do with the DunDun drums.

Come try. It is open to all. Even if you never dance we can make you move through the beat and know the steps. Or if you are a beginner or a dance teacher, you can learn and go teach.}

They decided and it became Reality.

Montessori School asked Wacheva if it would be possible to teach their students ages 6-12 African dancing and drumming and perform in front of their parents and the whole school during their 2024 school cultural festival on March 22.

As I said last time.
In the past, it was Wacheva’s dance and drum group that performed for the whole school and students’ parents.

This time they asked us about one of Wacheva's goals:

“Transforming students into participants rather than spectators.”

So, we started rehearsing on February 2, 9, 16, March 1, and 15.
And they are ready to perform on March 22.
