Belated post from our impromptu BN Hail and Farewell earlier this month. Lots of changes to celebrate. We officially welcomed SFC Koung, SFC Sanders, 2LT Choi, CPT Meyers, and MAJ Mach to the 741st Family. And bid a fond farewell to SFC Hegg, CPT Postawa, CPT McClendon, and MAJ Ecklund who are leaving us and moving on to bigger and better opportunities. Honorable mention to CPT Lee and CPT Pace who couldn't be with us this time, but are leaving the unit as well. All will be sorely missed!

Such an important topic year-round, but critical as our Soldiers tackle the complex feelings the close-out of the mission in AFG.

Resilience, Risk Reduction and Su***de Prevention, JSS
September is Su***de Prevention Awareness Month. The theme is "Connect to Protect" being there for one another is extremely important not only during the month of September but the entire year. Research indicates that connectedness – or feeling connected or having a sense of belonging – is a factor that can reduce the chance someone will consider or attempt su***de. Having social connections and a feeling of belonging can be a protective factor against su***de. Sometimes, loneliness and feeling like a burden can
increase the risk for su***de for some people. It is important for us to focus on how we can Connect to Protect the Service members and military families in our lives. I encourage each and every one of you to check in, offer your support and connect with resources. Confidential help is also available. You can call the:
Veterans/Military Crisis Line at 800-273-8255 (press 1), text 838255, or chat online at www.veteranscrisisline.net/get-help/chat.
Military OneSource for support – such as financial advice or relationship or
family counseling - at 800-342-9647 or visit militaryonesource.mil.
Also, Joint Services Support is that one stop shop that has MFLAC's, financial counselors, emergency resources and so much more. If you do not know where to begin you can call the emergency line at 800-364-7492 for 24/7 assistance.

Great story on WAARNG success!

Recognition and Education take center stage during National Guard leaders visit to Washington state An exceptional year, which included responses to a global pandemic, multiple civil disturbances, cyber attacks and catastrophic wildfires, earned the Washington National Guard a visit from the Chief of the National Guard Bureau.

Some exciting EOD displays this year, courtesy of our own 319th EOD!!

For as long as there is a Washington State Summer Con, we will always cherish our friends and partners in the Washington National Guard as a part of our event. A traditional Comic Con is filled with fictional heroes, but Summer Con continues to blend the real and fictional as we recognize some of our own heroes again this year.

Especially this year. It has been quite a year for everyone, and the men and women of the Washington National Guard helped us get through it. From working at food banks and vaccination sites, deploying to protect our cities, fighting the fires that threatened Bonney Lake and Sumner to deploying around the globe... the men and women of our Washington National Guard are a fabric of our community.

Come meet some of the Guardsmen at the Washington State Summer Con on June 18-20. Here is a great opportunity to say 'thank you' to some of our local heroes. They are bringing plenty of awesome equipment and toys including: a Black Hawk helicopter, Stryker fighting vehicle, robots, bomb suits, fun gear, and so much more! We have seen the plans for the Special Ops Nerf course too.

Get your tickets today to the kickoff event to start the Summer in Puyallup: www.wasummercon.com
