Health Professions Complaint Process 08/05/2024

I have had too many clients tell tale of strange, awkward, even disturbing massage experiences... and then ask if they should try going back 🤦‍♀️I say "No. You should never return to a strange, awkward, disturbing massage experience!"
Please always note: If the establishment has their business license displayed. If they have their massage license displayed (1 for each provider), and or look these things up prior to your appointment. Pay attention to hours of operation: Open late might be a red flag. Too many reviews can be a red flag as reviews can be bought these days. Prices too good to be true maybe are.
Your provider should be able to answer questions calmly and with confidence. Their explanations should make sense and set you at ease, not leave you with more questions. The office should be clean and comfortable.
And Yes, if you have a strange, awkward, disturbing massage experience you should report them. Please 🙏

I have added Interstitial Massage Works! I have also added this to my Google listing, and added an Interstitial Massage Works page to my website, as well as added this DBA on my Business license. I will be updating my website address soon.
The deep breath I experienced seeing this change made indicates it is a true and right thing.
Interstitial Massage Works is a project I have been working on to educate touch professionals about texture in the soft tissues of the body; primarily injured and stuck, muscle, tendon, fascia tissue; and the texture of change. I encourage communication, curiosity, creativity, and patience for all.

The question : I do Physical therapy, stretch or yoga.. why would I need massage?
Answer: "Commonly called muscle adhesion, this condition occurs in the soft tissue where collagen fibers “stick” to adjacent tissue. A variety of factors, from injury and trauma to immobilization due to a bone break, may lead to muscle adhesion" When stretching an adhered muscle, often the "stretch" occurs primarily at the joint and the muscle can continue to stay adhered. The direct application of massage can release the adhesions, vastly increasing the efficacy of PT, stretching , yoga, and the like.

Maybe if a mass amount of people suggest an edit of my new address on my google "4109 Bridgeport Way W. University Place, WA 98466" that might do something ?
As you know, I moved my office end of July from 1119 Pacific Ave. I adore my new space! Clients like it too! Google has failed after 4 verification post cards to update my address, so new folks still think I'm downtown on Pacific... I asked a couple people to suggest an edit on my google listing and that actually got google to call me to confirm that the new address was legit, and google still did not updated my new address, so I requested another postcard and entered the verification code when it arrived on the 11th and still google says my address is under review... ? If you have a minute to spare, please entertain this experiment and suggest the address edit on my google Thank you & Mahalo🌺 4109 Bridgeport Way W. University Place, WA 98466

Excellent Therapeutic Massage will be Moving Moving Moving! To University Place, WA Check my pin on Google for exact location, or Call or Text for more info 206 860 2669.
As many of you know, my current location was purchased at the end of last year. As is the fate of so many cool old buildings, it is being redeveloped. First 5 floors are rumored to be commercial redevelopment, and everything from 6th floor up is rumored to be becoming condos. Yup, my sweet office will be a condo, with a fantastic view!
Happily tho! I have found a fantastic new spot! exactly 3 turns from my current office. It is very easy to get to! Quiet and green, free parking, with many nearby amenities like: 5 different banks, Trader Joe's, Safeway, Whole foods, Dollar tree, beautiful park... and much much more!
There will be no interruption of service with this move, I move fast. I look forward to seeing you there!

A client told me of a text they had sent. Their phone indicated that the text had successfully been sent, and there was no receipt of the text on my end. I tend to be a good responder, folks hear back from me within 24 hours. If you contact me and don't hear anything back, please try again, most likely it's a technology fail.

4 Reasons why to see the same Massage Therapist 12/10/2021

https://www.tmc-chiswick.com/blog/4-reasons-why-to-see-the-same-massage-therapist/
This article just about sums it up! It cites 4 reasons for regular massage with a trusted therapist: 1) Comfort with a known and trusted therapist increases the ability to relax, and makes massages more effective.
2) Keep massage goals on track; goals like: reduce headaches, increase flexibility of a stiff neck or reduce stress.
3) Empowerment: Pain is very humbling and can be confusing. As a therapist I help to decode what is happening in the muscles, map the tensions with my clients so the conscious brain has a grater understanding of the situation. Understanding and knowledge are powerful tools to enable grater more effective self care; even if it is only to know which muscle to stretch and how or where is best to put the icepack!
4) We have your back: I have actually had the experience mentioned in this part of the article; I noticed a sore on a client, and noticed it not healing, told them about it, they told their Doc, it was cancer, it was early detected! Having a monthly massage may have saved a limb!
I have openings and am accepting new clients. If you or someone you know is interested in receiving regular massage, give me a call or text @ 206 860 2669

4 Reasons why to see the same Massage Therapist This article was inspired by the recent BBC news report that seeing the same doctor over time “lowers death rates”. Continuity of care leads to “better communication, patient satisfaction, adherence to medical advice and much lower use of hospital services”. TMC have always been advocates in...

Earlier today, Governor Inslee and Secretary Shah announced the Power of Providers Initiative, encouraging all health care providers to talk to their patients/clients about COVID-19 vaccination. We are attaching a letter from Secretary Shah and various state associations which talks about the initiative and encourages providers to participate. Thank you.

Dear Health Care Providers:

Since the beginning of last year, the COVID-19 pandemic has tested all of us personally and professionally. As we work together to combat this pandemic, we have immense gratitude for health care providers across the state who have worked to educate and vaccinate as many patients as they could. Like you, we are committed to our patients and community to elevate people’s overall health and wellbeing and protect as many people against COVID-19 as possible.

In just over six months, working together, we have fully protected more than half of our state’s population from COVID-19, leading Washington to be one of the top states for vaccinations. That is incredible, and we appreciate all of your contributions and helping our state be Washington Ready by June 30. Yet while we have saved many lives, as you know, our work is far from over.

More than three million Washingtonians, both adults and children, are still not protected by these lifesaving vaccines and we want to see more people vaccinated and ultimately protected. The last few miles of our journey to vaccinate as many people as quickly and equitably as possible will likely look different, and again we are asking for your help as a trusted source of health advice and counsel as we go forward.

Today, we are asking you—as fellow health care providers—to please take the Power of Providers community vaccination commitment. This means you agree to do four simple steps with each of your patients to help SAVE lives:

SEEK. Proactively reach out to your patients (or clients) to find out if they have received COVID-19 vaccination and invite them to do so, if they have not. This may be verbally or by checking their immunization records.
ASK/EDUCATE. Ask your patients at every visit if they are vaccinated or check their immunization records. If your patient is not vaccinated, provide information and education on the COVID-19 vaccine, recommend it, and offer it. To help, we have materials to assist with talking to your patients about COVID-19 vaccine at www.doh.wa.gov/Covid19VaccineProvider.
VACCINATE. If your patients agree, vaccinate your patients right then or give them a referral to a COVID-19 vaccine location using vaccinelocator.doh.wa.gov or by calling 833-VAX-HELP.
EMPOWER. Empower your patients to share their vaccination status with friends, family, and others. Order free stickers and buttons from the Department of Health that you can give to your patients. And empower your staff to be persistent in continually talking about the importance of vaccines and sharing that they have been vaccinated, too!
Become a Power of Providers partner today by filling out the form here.
Once you commit, we will send you a certificate to display in your office, helpful social media messaging and graphics you can use. If you want to help in the fight against this pandemic but do not know how, this commitment is for you! Please note that though this initiative is aimed at health care providers, you do not have to be a COVID-19 vaccine provider to make this commitment.

Support vaccine equity
Whether you commit or not, remember “don’t hesitate, vaccinate.” This applies whether you offer vaccines to your patients or give them a referral! We also ask you to continue to support our efforts to ensure equitable access to the COVID-19 vaccine across Washington:

Reach out to eligible patients, especially those from communities who have been highly impacted by COVID-19. Use our community-specific resources for outreach and engagement.
Meet people where they are with the goal of “vaccines going to people, not people going to vaccines.”
Partner with local, trusted community organizations and groups and your local health department to coordinate vaccination events, or request a Department of Health Care-a-Van visit. Use our Equitable Vaccine Site Placement Planning Tool.
Find more information on how to have a pro-equity vaccine practice here.
Gratitude
In closing, we want to thank you for all the work you do each and every day for the health of people in Washington, especially as it relates to fighting against COVID-19. Please join us in continuing this work and helping our state vaccinate as many Washingtonians as quickly and equitably as possible.

Remember, we are in this together – thank you!

Cupping can leave marks.
Sharing these pics with permission.
Copied from the interwebs: "What are the benefits of cupping?
Cupping increases blood circulation to the area where the cups are placed. This may relieve muscle tension, which can improve overall blood flow and promote cell repair. It may also help form new connective tissues and create new blood vessels in the tissue."
Cupping lifts the muscle tissue and allows blood under the tissue, it pulls blood thru to the skin's surface in a way traditional massage techniques simply cannot.
These marks were created in under 10 minutes. Primarily suction with the cups was applied to oiled skin, cups were then dragged in the direction of the lymph flow; the muscle tension was palpably more pliable after treatment, these marks took about 4 days to dissipate.
Cupping is not appropriate for all tension situations, however it is totally awesome for some.

Just had a client email me about recommendations for massage in Seattle. I happily replied with the info for my 3 favs : Mary at https://glownaturalhealth.com/ . Zoe / Classic Healing Arts . and Eric Andrews-Katz http://www.seattlemassageguy.com/ .
All vaccinated, including me https://excellenttherapeuticmassage.com/
I also let them know that my new office is 2 blocks from the bus stop for the 590/594 which runs direct from 2nd and Pine in Seattle to 14th and Pacific in Tacoma (I'm at 12th and Pacific), and returns direct to 4th and Pine in Seattle. Due to the dedicated bus lane the trip is usually 40ish min depending on time of day... No traffic stress (read a book on your ride!), no parking stress ..just sayin'
