Hanging on
Finally got to check this one off my bucket list this past weekend. This spot has been on my list for a long time now, but with my new work schedule we were able to make our way out to capture this beauty. The tree of life precariously perched between two steep beach edges, this large Sitka Spruce seems to defy gravity year after year. The punishing Washington coast and careless visitors have yet to completely destroy this beautiful tree as it keeps hanging on for dear life. There were droves of visitors surrounding her as the daylight slipped away, so we decided to stay and capture her beauty after dark. I had my wife shine a light to get focus again as I changed my vantage point a few times. This image was taken in complete darkness as a long exposure, evident by the stars and streaking clouds.

Who are we? What is our place in the universe? Art can often help us frame reflection and inspire the search for answers. More inspiration from the camera of Todd Moses β https://toddmoses.barlowgallery.com
One door closes, another opens. I recently decided to leave EbbTide Gallery to free up time to spend more time with my wife, so we can travel and work on my photography portfolio πΈ

Pounce - Trying my hand at birds of prey. These eagles were stunning to see making a meal of the local fish. I only have a 70-200 lens for this type of photography, think next time I will rent something with some more reach .
- Golden Serenity - Recently sold one of these prints and realized I hadn't shared this one publicly. This was around midnight out on a failed attempt at aurora, by the time we had reached the trailhead any chance of seeing the aurora was gone, but I was happy we continued and with what I did capture. With my new schedule of seven on, seven off, we plan to get out and capture more of the beauty around us this year. Looking forward to the new Milky Way season and all the adventures that await. One last exam and I'm completely done with my venture into the world of CT Technology, my exam is in May, then I will be free to roam again πΈ
Stellar View
One of my clients said she likes more landscape in her mountain view of Mt Rainier, so to accommodate, I went through my images from the past milky way shoots and found just the right foreground. I think this will do just fine π What do you think? On another note, I'm finished with school and my CT residency, tomorrow I start my official 7 on 7 off schedule, so I should have more time to get out and capture some of our PNW beauty once again. It's been a long haul but well worth it and I look forward to my new future. Many thanks to all who have encouraged me and stuck around to see what I have in store for my creative side. Cheers π» Stacked and blended

Alignment - We all try for the quintessential alignment in our milky way images. This image was from Thursday the 20th of July, we were originally going to go out for Aurora images, but the Aurora forecast was quickly dwindling as we approached the day. I decided to go for my go to and shoot milky-way again. There was some Aurora activity going on behind me, but not enough for me to change direction and I was able to capture my newest image of the milky-way rising over Mt Rainier. The airglow was pretty impressive this night as you can see in my image. It was good to get back out and shoot. Almost done with school now, less than 2 weeks to go now. ππΈπ

Stellar Tahoma - One of my favorite images from last year and also a big seller at the gallery πΈ Mt Rainier provides so much beauty year round. Looking forward to getting back out for more Milky Way adventures in the coming season. I will be done with school in mid August and can't wait to have a little more time to get out and capture more beautiful moments out in the PNW ππΈπ

Back side of the Range - View of the Teton Range from Table Mt. From our trip this past summer, it was a challenging hike up to the top of Table Mt in Idaho (11,111 ft) but the views were incredible π Most people see the Wyoming side from the National Park, but Table Mountain offers a unique perspective. I'm on a short break from school and trying to play catch up with my images from Spring break and Summer break, hope you enjoy them. Have a great Christmas and Happy New Year my friends!

New piece in the gallery today! It's #5/25 of my limited edition and this time around I had a special Roma style Frame (30x45 Acrylic Fine Art Print wrapped in 4" Roma style molding) built by Joe Hot Shot Exposures He did a great job and it will make a beautiful addition to someone's home for sure. Come out and see this beauty at The Ebb Tide Art Gallery in Gig Harbor.
Morning Medley- Holding on to our summer, sadly it is time to let go and move into our winter phase, or as we know it here in the PNW as the 9 months of rain π Have a great week my friends and Happy Thanksgiving π¦π

Full Monty - As I learn more techniques to create Milky Way images I am revisiting the places I shot before to produce much cleaner images. This is an example of that, I shot this same area almost a year ago as a single image. The images I got were good, but they would not really print beyond 16X24 without noise issues, so I wanted to try stacking and blending. This image is a stack and blend that I will be able to print much larger now. Next year I will use a tracker and get even better images. Hope you enjoy my newest version of Milky Way over Rainier, I did a landscape and a portrait version, this is the landscape version of course. Have a great week my friends!Stacked and blended

Oxbow Bend - One of our favorite little stops in the Tetons π Each time we have visited the Tetons I make the trek out early in the morning for the grand sunrise here at Oxbow Bend. Unfortunately this time around we were greeted with forest fire smoke π’π₯ but I made the best of it and came out with a few keepers. Hope you enjoy my addition and have a great week my friends π

Starry night over the Crater - Scouted this spot about a year ago and captured some nice images, but really wanted to get some Milky Way over this spot. So we came back for Milky Way this year and had a great success. This image is a single image, but I took lots of images to stack later and lots of different foreground images as well. Stay tuned for more fun Milky Way over Crater Lake to come. πΈππΈSingle imageNikon Z7ii Nikon 20mm 1.8z lens 20 sec exposure

Shuksan - We did the Chain Lakes Loop up in the Mount Baker National Forest this past weekend. The entire time the mountains were socked in with clouds π’ But on our way out Shuksan broke through and gave us a beautiful show π πΈπ» We will certainly return for the fall colors this year and keep our fingers crossed for minimal clouds π€

Helens Milky Magic - Another image from my recent Milky Way adventure at Mt Saint Helens ππΈπ I can't get over the rebirth of this area compaired to what it was after the devistating eruption. Such a beautiful place. This image was a true labor of love...
The sky is 9 images shot at 20 sec and 2 dark sky images all stitched together in sequator. The foreground is a 300 second exposure taken just minutes before the sky images. Then the sky and the foreground where merged in photoshop. Lots of work, but it pays off with an image that can be used for larger prints.

Golden Escape - Went up to try to capture the Aurora, but we got skunked. Not complaining though, we were treated to some awesome views that were quite memorable. Special thanks to for the invite! Running into and was an added bonus to the awesome night!

Milky Way views at Helens β From this past Friday night. My first attempt at a composite. The foreground is a 300 second exposure taken just minutes before the sky images. The sky consists of 9 images stacked for decreased noise. Overall Iβm pretty happy with the results, but I am still looking forward to getting some images with a tracker. One of these days I take some time to get comfortable with my little move shoot move tracker and actually use it ππΈπ Foreground 300 sec exposure. Lupine Passion at Helens β Went out this past Friday night for some good Milky Way images at Mt Saint Helens, got some keepers for sure (keep an eye out for postings later this week or next). The thing about Milky Way or astrophotography in general is that you want a completely clear sky, but if you stay over and try to capture the sunrise you want some clouds πβοΈ Well, we got blessed with both, clear skies for the MW πΈππ πΈ and just enough clouds to give the morning sky some character πΈβοΈπΈ Perfect! Have a great week my friends ππ
