Two road weary travelers.
The one of the left, Huriko, is heading back to Japan after two months in Spain. She walked the Camino Frances.
The one on the right…that’s me…simply weary from planes and airports and buses and reschedules. One more flight to Asturias to begin Camino Primitivo.
One just finishing. One just beginning. We sat next to each other by chance. Or was it? We shared snacks. A toast. A laugh. A tear or two. Two strangers who don’t speak Spanish with several hours in Madrid, just sharing time and stories.
And so it begins. A Camino and a friendship that crosses the world.
It’s not real until I drink from the Idaho (no, ) mug. May the work week begin! Zoom calls then off to for the start of !

Day 9; out of cast and re -xrayed, healing has begun! (note swelling and bruising move UP the arm instead of down if you carry your arm above your head)
Cast #2, this one for two weeks
I’m reminded that people who do things risk getting hurt. And now I’m sporting a cast on my left arm.
That leaves me with all sorts of openings in my schedule. If you considered any of my other somatic/body based healing practices, now would be a great time!

I’m back with a little more regularity in 2024.
Seems 2023 brought me to a place or irregularity. Which is cool for a change of pace. But I prefer my meditation and breathing time to be…regular. Routine. Steady. Habitual. Chronic.

I can’t say I LIKE the Winter Solstice, but i have come to relish the opportunity to honor it.
This time of year with shorter days brings the longest night. I offer an hour of meditation in this season, recognizing the difficulties and darkness of the year as we wait for and welcome the new days of light ahead.

Moving into the season of shorter days and more hours or dark. I like to…I need to…occupy myself with little rituals and ceremonies.
A little “bonfire”, a recognition of the thin veil, and a welcome to all that come through.
Today might have been the last post-work-walk-in-the-woods I’ll be able to enjoy for a while. Such a welcome cool breeze to mark the day!
I spent the afternoon teaching a anatomy…a ton of exhaling, lots of spinal mechanics, a little Rabbit, and oh-so-many-head-to knee postures!
15 mins of…calm. And ease. And time to say ”aaaaaah”.
