Enter a raffle to win an Andy Nichols Glass Salmon!

In celebration of The Dalles Art Center's 65th anniversary, in conjunction with our School of Fish community project, Andy Nichols has graciously donated one of his famous glass fish to raffle off at our party on September 7th.

Andy is inspired by the natural beauty of Salmon and Trout and the life journey they endure. Each of his Fish is uniquely designed with abstract colors and patterns, while holding true to common characteristics of native fish. These fish, an artistic interpretation of Pacific Coast Trout and Salmon, are influenced by the changes that occur during the spawning cycles. Striking colors and a dramatic shape lend to a feel of life and motion. See more on his website, nicholsartglass.com

This fish and stand are valued at $1695. Tickets are sold at $50 each. The proceeds from this raffle will benefit TDAC operations. Get your tickets now at the link below!

Learn the fascinating technique of ice dying for easy surface decoration for fabric with Teresa Hepker and Louise Sargent of Two Foxes Studios

Ice dyeing creates random patterns on plain fabric using permanent cold water dyes. Students will each bring a garment to dye. Instructors will provide all other equipment and materials. The process takes two days so the dye will have maximum time to spread and fix to the fabric. Please make sure that your garment or other fabric item is 100% cotton or linen, and thoroughly prewashed in machine with detergent or by hand with Dawn dishwashing liquid. Hot water is best.

Important, so we repeat:
100% cotton or linen fabric, prewashed
Please also bring:
Dust mask (for mixing chemicals and dyes)
Rubber gloves
Apron or old clothes

Examples of items appropriate for this class: t-shirts, shirts or blouses, tank tops, shorts, baby clothes,
pillow cases, dish towels. Please avoid heavy fabrics like denim or sweat shirts.

This two day class will run from 1pm-3pm, June 22 & 23.

Get your tickets at the link below:

Bring your watercolor paint setup and learn from Elizabeth Zimmerman on location. This program offers your choice of 3 different locations over 3 days, in conjunction with North Wasco County Parks & Recreation. Pick and choose your classes, or sign up for all three! There are price breaks with each additional class within this program.

Elizabeth will give a brief demonstration of how she would approach her plein air watercolor painting, including explaining why she chooses her composition and what is the inspiration for that piece. She will demonstrate how she chooses what colors to mix and why she's choosing specific watercolor painting techniques. Then students will be encouraged to find their spots to work from on their own paintings. Elizabeth will walk from student to student to give one-on-one help and constructive feedback.

Please make sure to bring your own foldable chair (camping chair would work well, a side table would be a bonus), standing easel (optional), water in non-breakable container/jar, paint brushes, paper towel/cloth towel, and sun protection, plus a bag or box with handle to transport your painting supplies. If you are short on watercolor paper, paints, or in need of a mini tin palette with watercolor paints, they will be available for purchase from Elizabeth Zimmerman at the beginning of class before we start the walk. Some previous experience with watercolor painting is recommended for this class.

Please don't hesitate to sign up for this class! Enrollment is only open for 2 more days, and we still need a few more to sign up in order to run the program. You don't want to miss it!
