UPDATE: We are back up and running.

As a result of last night’s weather event, The Clerk’s Office is experiencing connectivity issues and phone outages.

We are working diligently to correct this issue. We appreciate your patience and understanding.

We are a little behind on our celebrations so today we were finally able to have a celebration lunch! Happy belated birthday to Grady and happy 3 year work anniversary to Kasey, Jessica, and Grady! You each work so hard to be the best at what you do. You take pride in your work and in your service to Upson County! I am so very thankful to have you all as part of our office family!

Brad Crane with Kofile delivered another Military Discharge Book today. I’m so proud to work with Kofile to have all our Veteran’s Military Service records preserved and protected.

The Clerk’s Office will be closed on Friday, March 29, in observance of Good Friday.

We will resume our regular hours of 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Monday, April 1.

Jurors summonsed to appear on 03/25/2024 and 04/01/2024 will no longer need to report:

All cases for the week of 3/25 and the week of 4/1 have been resolved. Accordingly, all jurors summonsed to appear on these dates have been released from service.

JURY SCAM ALERT

There is a jury scam going around. We have had reports that someone impersonating a Sheriff’s Deputy is calling people and saying that a bench warrant was issued for their failure to appear for jury duty. He also states that you can purge yourself from the bench warrant by purchasing a type of prepaid card.
Please know that no one from the Clerk’s office or the Sheriff’s office will call you and ask you for money to purge yourself from failure to appear for jury duty. If you receive one of these phone calls, PLEASE HANG UP. Never share your personal information or buy a prepaid debit card to send to anyone.

Update on our technical issues:
We are now able to process electronic filings but our telephone service is still down. Hopefully service will be restored soon.

The Clerk’s Office is currently experiencing technical issues. We are unable to answer our phones or process electronic filings or process passport applications. Our amazing IT team is working on these issues and hope to have it resolved soon.

After you purchase a new home, if you re-title your home into a trust, or have to file a new deed for any reason, you will likely receive a letter titled "Recorded Deed Notice" that looks similar to the image below.

What to do if you get a deed scam letter:
You do not need to pay a private company to obtain your deed for you! If you receive a letter like this, please do not remit payment to purchase a copy of your deed. If you’ve already sent in a payment, please contact the company that sent the letter to ask for a refund—especially if you haven’t received the documents you paid for. You can always obtain a copy from the county website free of charge! The records can be searched on the Clerk of Courts website; https://deeds.cherokeega.com/. You simply enter your last name, first name (example: Jones, Chipper). Our office can also provide a copy of your deed for a minimal cost. The cost for a certified copy of a recorded deed is $2.00 for the first page, and $0.50 per additional page. Uncertified copies of documents can be obtained for just 0.50 cents per page. The Deeds & Records office is located at 90 North Street, Suite G-150 Canton, GA 30114.
